Having a daughter that ran for repub. rep. seat in CT back in 2008, there are mandatory number of signatures and financial backing from common citizens that has to be established before they can be recognized. Then there are state campaign standards to be met to permit party financial backing. Filing a request to be a candidate is like filing a request to take a learners permit test but driving to the DMV by yourself and thinking it's just fine.
