Famous civil rights leader Jesse Jackson has set his sights on Kroger after stores closed in a predominantly black neighborhood. He came to Cincinnati, where Kroger is headquartered, to call for a boycott. Jackson is calling for a boycott after three of Kroger's stores recently closed in Tennessee. About 100 people gathered to listen to Jackson at the shuttered Walnut Hills store. Dailey also said Kroger is providing a free shuttle service for Walnut Hills senior citizens to another Kroger store about a mile away. Kroger is also building a new store downtown which can serve many inner city residents.

Boycotting because no one is safe to work or shop there.
“..no business opportunity there...”
You said it! You have the opportunity for more shoplifting and occasional looting there. Who needs it, or Jesse and the rest of the excuse machine?
It only takes a relatively small number of shoplifters to cause a grocery store to close down. They have more than a small number of shoplifters in those neighborhoods. The good black people in those neighborhoods should complain to their family members and neighbors who are doing the shoplifting.
And the 'hood won't like that either.
The blacks from the inner city have been pushed into nearby suburbs by Dem Mayors who took the money from real estate developers to redo the old neighborhoods for yuppies. In my area, blacks are all over it now, and; Krogers hires these kids to work registers as does Lowes, Home Depot, plus Walmart. Walmart is overloaded with incompetent black help. This- “I am black and you owe me is damn sad.” The ones working who are very proficient stand out as they are few. In all fairness-today’s 50 and under are mostly lazy.
Or burned out somewhere. Or had a high injury/mortality rate for their employees from local predators, either in the store or on the way to/from work.
Rob and shoplift the local grocery store into bankruptcy and when they leave you in a “food desert” it’s because you are RAYCISS!!!
Is this near the city where a councilwoman wants to make it against the law for a store owner to put up a fence or barrier between them and the customer? Yet another harebrained idea based on ‘feelings’.
This happens with many old grocery stores.
These stores close because they get ripped off. Most of the time their truck deliveries disappear before getting in the store.
People have free food stamps and still rob and shoplift these stores blind.
It is other paying consumers who pay for the theft and the food stamps.
Just sickening.
Jessie trying to gain some ink or needs to get his name out there no matter how trivial?....Kroger is doing what it must for business reasons....the Rev’un Jackson is a nut.
They also incur high loss rates from theft, robberies, gas pump drive offs.
In my yewt, worked for a store in a bad area...good grief! Unbelievable the amount of thugs that come in and steal all manner of stuff. Beer/cigs were hot items, but I had people that would pack their trousers with lunch meat, canned goods.
I quit Krogering 20 years ago when they closed all the stores in my state.
Don’t recall anyone squalloring about it then.
Is Jesse running short of funds ?
he needs a job
I love Krogers. I shop there constantly.
Around here, most of Kroger's deliveries are done with 53' trailers backed up to the docks on the building wall and unloaded from inside.
Crime and shoplifting are major reasons why stores close up in the inner city. Another reason why grocery stores close up shop is that food safety and proper hygiene are more likely to be neglected in inner city stores. Try and find a manager and a group of employees who are willing to work in a dangerous neighbor and also make sure raw meat and dairy is kept at a safe temp and old food is properly disposed of.
Me too. The Kroger brand products are almost always high quality and the guys in the meat department grind fresh chuck roast for me. And they have a sushi bar!
My only complaint is they've switched to predominantly self-checkout.
I forget...
Are we for or against Kroger?
