Moscow will shoot down any U.S. missiles fired at Syria and retaliate against American launch sites, the Russian ambassador to Lebanon has warned.
Ambassador Alexander Zasypkin made the comments on Tuesday while speaking on the Hezbollah-affiliated al-Manar TV channel, Reuters reported.
President Donald Trump is currently considering military action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad following Saturdays suspected chemical attack on the rebel-held town of Douma near the capital city of Damascus. Medical relief groups say the attack killed dozens of civilians.

Yeah, well, Hitler pretty much thought Russia could be defeated by Christmas of 1941.
Here's the put up so far:
Russia says they will shoot down any missiles, that's the S-400 and earlier systems and PROBABLY will include Aircraft carrying missiles.
Syria Says Russia will destroy launch Assets, and so far Russia has not disavowed their support for this, that's the P-800 Yakhont and Russian sub & supersonic cruise missiles and Russian Aircraft (all Thermonuclear capable), to strike "coalition" bases, ships, submarines and aircraft.
The US, UK and France has said they will strike Syrian Military bases.
So now someone needs to call, and when they do, we may need a bigger table.
Yes, they are. None of us believe they would do it, but they could kill tens of millions of Americans and we could do the same to them. What Russia lacks is major military capability short of a nuclear attack.
Gasser Al Assad and Putin can only bomb children, that’s their match, the scum has done practically nothing against ISIS. Our Kurds and the SDF won Raqqa, the ISIS capital. Gasser and Putin are still fighting in the suburbs of Damascus, Russia’s military is so powerful. Those for Gasser and Putin, are leftwingers who love seeing Syrian refugees come here, so that is our problem.
Pretty concise.

...sigh...
I do not buy that Assad ordered the gas attack.
I am not interested in Saudi-backed “rebels” taking over Syria so they can get their pipeline through instead of Russia’s.
But Hezbullah needs to wiped out in Lebanon, and Iranian troops need to get out of Syria or die in vast quantities.
And if Russia is actively now linked with Hezbullah, the day an Iranian-sold, Chechen-delivered dirty bomb takes out Putin in the Kremlin will not come fast enough.
“Might find out if the S-400 SAM works as advertised.”
I think Israel has been beating it semi-regularly.
Russia still has hundreds of ICBMs aimed at us. All Putin has to do is give the order.
Even though the Cold War is no longer, Mutually Assured Destruction is still possible.
Remember that.
Wheres a good Chechen when you need one.
Caught me. I should know better.
Trump needs to wind it down. Syria is not worth risking WWIII and nuclear holocaust.

Can they?
Russia has not conducted a nuclear weapons test since 1990 when they were the Soviet Union. Much has changed since then.
There has been a 2nd 'freeing of the serfs'. Nuclear Weapon and missile techs don't have to settle for a shabby apartment and access to the state store and have moved on.
For example, a thermonuclear weapon requires tritium, a rare isotope of hydrogen that is extremely rare in nature and requires manufacture in a reactor to boost the fission stage.
Tritium has a half life of 12 years and decays to lithium which absorbs electrons and causes your nuke to fizzle. So every few years you have to replace your tritium.
Do the Russians still have techs they can trust to do that? For thousands of weapons?
Or have they been bluffing for years now?
Trump and Mattis have known what they were doing everytime before...

The last Chechen-delivered bomb was at the Boston Marathon.
We need to get the hell out of Syria! Now.
They’re going to bomb Cruisers and Subs???
I think they might find the pathway there a little crowded with fighters...
