Divorce is hard, but it’s easier than cutting the brake lines on your wife’s car. It is long past time for an amicable divorce of the United States of America. There is simply no common ground with the Left anymore. We are now the couple screaming at each other all night, every night as the kids hide in their room.

We cannot come together, but we do not have to live like this. The history of the world is nations breaking up and redrawing their borders. If we want to avoid this political divide turning into a deadly one, we should do likewise.

Conservatives could regain the lead in the culture war if President Trump would lead it but so far, he has not.

President Trump didn't run as a culture warrior and many of the people who voted for him don't care one way or the other about social issues. They're just trying to keep their heads above water after being hung out to dry by the uniparty establishment.

I would not look to President Trump to fight the culture war.

And then we have the words and writings of men like John Hay and some of his biographers. But then there are the words and writings of the man himself. There is a short message that Lincoln wrote in September 1862. Known as his "Meditations on Divine Will", it is one of many such notes Lincoln wrote to himself and which were never meant for an audience. Lincoln wrote: "The will of God prevails. In great contests each party claims to act in accordance with the will of God. Both may be, and one must be, wrong. God cannot be for and against the same thing at the same time. In the present civil war it is quite possible that God's purpose is something different from the purpose of either party -- and yet the human instrumentalities, working just as they do, are of the best adaptation to effect His purpose. I am almost ready to say that this is probably true -- that God wills this contest, and wills that it shall not end yet. Why would someone who was not a Christian believer contemplate such thoughts in private? Why would he care what the will of God was if he didn't believe He existed?

I liked the foreign policy platform that Trump ran on. He seemed like he was 1/2 way between the old-school neocons (Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Lindesy) and the isolationist Rand Paul (who's not as isolationist as his Dad, but still has a very low opinion of US military force being used anywhere, ever,)

Boulton has a reputation as the "Hawk's Hawk", but maybe that's just bravado and TV pundit stuff.
