Donald Trump launched an unprecedented attack on Vladimir Putin for Russia's role in propping up the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad as he demanded urgent action to help the victims of what he called a "mindless" chemical attack.

Syrian opposition activists and rescuers said on Sunday that a poison gas attack on a rebel-held town near the capital had killed at least 49 people, according to local estimates.

Mr Trump took to Twitter on Sunday morning to condemn the reports and say that Mr Assad's backers would face a high price.

I have the reports from the same intelligence sources that confirmed my Russian Dossier! If necessary we'll take one for the Team!

Putin won in Syria and he won in Russia

If anyone knows about making someone “ pay a big price” for winning something TPTB didnt want him to win- it ought to be Trump

Assad used chemical weapons for no reason = complete bullshit!

You would have to be as queer as Lindsey Graham not to see through this nonsense.

I hope Trump is just saying these things to deflect from the media saying he’s cozy with the Russians.

I think there’s a greater than zero chance that privately Trump and Putin have already worked out this little piece of Kabuki Theater.

Think it was more related to Assad and Russia winning strategic Battle of Ghouta and the US in March essentially admittting Assad won the war in Syria

Radicals and their backers desperate to keep the West engaged against Assad

Saudi-funded Jaish al Islam (the Army of Islam, and al Qaeda offshoot) says the Syrians did this, so it is as reliable as the word of god. Jaish has chlorine & did this, but Israel said the US must strike Syria, so we will now risk World War 3 & make Russia pay a “heavy price”.

President Trump is wrong on this one. Assad had nothing to gain and everything to lose with chemical attacks at this time. EVERY TIME there’s a chemical attack, it seems that it’s when Assad is gaining ground.

We’ll see how the theater plays out at the UN tomorrow
Putin has had more patience and forbearance with the West than I think anyone could have imagined
But eventually his own survival with his own leaders may hinge on retaliating
Too many fools are poking the Bear and expecting it to take the public abuse

You don’t believe CNN & Faux News? Surely, Assad decided to use chems on civilians days after Trump said the US was leaving Syria very soon, because Assad wants to be bombed by us?

Well, Trump has to show he’s not a paper tiger, after all. Or is it Sheldon Adelson’s money, to support the mid-terms?

The question is why does President Trump believe this. He has, every time. Under Obama, it was never so open that there were actual US troops in Syria helping McCain's terrorists. How come we've heard NOTHING about where those weapons from Benghazi ended up?

I'm very concerned that President Trump is being manipulated by the deep state.

Kabuki theater.

Trump is not stupid, he knows Assad was not behind this.

It goes against all logic for Assad to do this just after Trump announces he’s pulling out.

They think we are stupid.

Trump is playing for time, all is not yet in place to take down the deep-state actors...if pushed they will do something horrific so he keeps playing them.

Both Trump and Putin are deep-state enemies and they know it.

Skeptical it was Assad.

How does Assad prove that ISIS really did it? The Syrian Christians did not have a problem with Assad but they have had a huge problem with ISIS, so much so that only 80% of the Christians remain in Syria.

If ISIS can capture people, kill and cook their bodies and invite the captured person's family to "dine" with them as they all feast on the captured, killed and cooked person - why would we assume that ISIS did not stage the chemical attack themselves?

Read the tweets linked 15 and 18. And read the follow up comments.

You can bet the GCC is involved, and it’s about the whole region.

I don't know what's going on but the most plausible explanation, again, is from Thomas. He studies that part of the world more than any other person I've seen. He's following the GCC and MbS like no other. Bottom line - I trust Trump.
