Why do they call it National Guard if only Governors can order

He does have the authority. And he just exercised it. The Governor doesn’t have jack **** to say about it.

Trump has the power to Federalize the National Guard. Nothing new.

I’ve read something about Title 10 which does allow the President to override and federalize the National Guard if a governor objects. Sorry, I didn’t copy the source, but, I think it’s on TGP.

I think in a push comes to shove situation, Trump would easily prevail - years ago the Governors got together and developed a “Dual Authority” deal to give them more power/control but when push comes to shove a real CinC “Trumps” a local “commander”...
