Sending troops to the border not only violates American law, it is the least politically savvy play the president could make.
Donald Trump is threatening to place soldiers on the U.S.-Mexico border to face off against a thousand-strong caravan of Central Americans who started in Honduras and are slowly winding their way through Mexico and plan to enter los Estados Unidos. And I cant wait: Those refugees need Marines to protect them from ICE agents.
Our Coast Guard should have bulk tents, water, food and showers for everyone who shows up. And who better than Uncle Sams troops to offer a formal apology for directly and indirectly creating the conditions that have forced so many Central Americans to make the trek north over the past four decades in the first place.
So, unlike many of my fellow open-borderistas, I welcome news that Donald Trump wants to send in the troops. Itll be far more cost-effective than a border wall, and it wouldn't hurt to call back our fighting men, women and transgender people from all of our imperialist adventures across the world and place them on la frontera.
Alas, my dream wont happen. Brigades-on-the-border are just another saber rattle by a president who always seeks scapegoats among the most oppressed of people. Hes found a perfect candidate with this caravan, which he has already cast as evil-doers whom must be kept out, regardless of the Constitution, federal law or the federal budget.
If any of those in the caravan get sent back and die at the hands of the people they traveled so far to escape, the blood will be on Trumps hands. Our troops deserve better than to be used as pawns in some reality-show reality by a power-hungry and attention-seeking tyrant.

A “1000 strong” caravan vs US military.
I wonder who wins ?
You raise an excellent point. Think of all of the many hundreds of billions of $$$ illegals cost taxpayers. Think of the deaths and crime due to illegals. Why shouldnt we announce we will defend our boarders even if required to shoot at those who would attempt to cross illegally? Why not post 100000 troops along the boarder until the message goes out that its closed?
#1 They don’t care about American laws.
#2 Build the wall.
>>Pure BS. Defending our country IS the reason for a military in the first place. Stupid libtards.<<
Absolutely correct. This idea being floated by the MSM that protecting the country from invaders is a police action needs to be rebutted by the President and his supporters. Is the control and protection of American airspace and the ocean on our coasts also police actions? TOTAL BULLSH!T. The President needs to immediately rebut this leftist garbage by sending several armored divisions to seal the border.
The queerness is strong with this one.
Everyone has a role to play in the body politic. While our job as patriots is to help save/preserve the republic, the nation's domestic enemies are tasked with destroying liberty so that they may assume unchallenged power.
Consider Jim's excellent points in #6. No one engaged in propaganda as part of an overall strategy of defeating logical opposition is for one moment going to consider the necessity of supporting any assertion with facts. That's not their job; in fact, it's poison to their cause.
The responsibility of countering lies is that of patriotic opinion leaders - such as those found here on FR. Let a snake be a snake - don't try and reform, rather attack and neutralize when necessary.
Maybe you should get your glasses checked Gustavo. Just the opposite is true. And, where are your papers?
Well, using the Navy would a little bit of overkill, wouldn't it? I'm sure Earl would have been happy to just see the police ...
[smile]
Hey Gustavo, he already has used it to his advantage, you dork.
Hey Gustavo,
if it is against the law then why has it been done in the past?
huh smart guy?
Send our military to the south border and stop ALL illegals.
Round up ALL illegals and send em ALL home.
Breaking the law is NO way to start your residency here pal.
>>Are we really that stupid?<<
Depends on who your referring to as “we”. I think it’s a toss-up as to whether those Americans to be included are in the majority yet or not, but if they are it would be no surprise to me.
Hillary voters who were the Majority in 2016 elections by 3 million votes. Assuming of course all votes were legit.
Gustavo uses the advantage that he is a needle neck wussy man to avoid getting punch in the face.
She got a lot of the caravan vote.
Some posters here thrive on posting liberal lies from media.
Seems the base axiom for posse comitatus is that the military “defends our borders” by killing would-be threats on _their_ soil, stopping threats before they can get to ours - leaving sheriffs et al to address domestic threats.
“Border patrol” is basically a compromise, doing militaristic national security under the premise of sheriff-type powers.
If the “but posse comitatus!” people press the issue, that will leave little other than a formal invasion of Mexico.
Yup and I don't get it. Almost feels like they just want to win the prize for most posts in a day or something.
>>Defending the country from foreign invasion is against the law...LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL..<<
Laughable, right? Unfortunately it’s not because our federal government has been infiltrated by anti-American globalists who have been busy subverting our laws and undermining our ability to turn away the hordes of invaders just now beginning to head our way. If you’ve been paying attention to what is happening in western Europe then you have been seeing the precursor of what is beginning to happen here. Can President Trump turn things around. God bless him for his effort, but I’m not optimistic.
As i type this.. i have been fuming over all the laws barack and hus administration... plus the dems.. have broken, dismantled, tore asunder. I do not want to hear one word about law breaking now, from the left.. if only one side is honest and true, that side loses. No more!
