Teachers carried signs and marched during a rally at the state Capitol in Oklahoma City on Monday calling for higher wages. Last week, the legislature in Oklahoma City voted to give teachers an average raise of $6,000 per year, or roughly 16 percent, depending on experience. Gov. Mary Fallin, a Republican, signed the package into law, but teachers said it was not enough. They have asked for a $10,000 raise as well as additional funding for schools and raises for support staff like bus drivers and custodians.

Agree! Do work online - no buildings, no teachers - problem solved ! But really its just a Giant Daycare.
I live in this area, and its a joke! Over 500 School Districts with over- paid administrators. I call it the Two Week Rule. Our kid never goes to school longer that two weeks without a holiday or Late Start Day. Gave my little darling my blessing to Walk Out during Standardized Testing Week as a response to this nonsense.
I saw footage on one of the news channels. If the announcer hadnt said the group were teachers and that the venue was in Oklahoma City, I would have guess it was a homeless march in Boston.
If you’re a lard ass who looks like you just rolled off the couch,...you might be an Okie.
Absolutely correct. They are about as professional looking as a checker at Walmart. Strike that, they are not as professional looking as a checker at Walmart. The checkers have a sort of uniform. Most of the teachers are a rabble.
No all of us Okies are Lard A$$s !!!
Im 55 and weigh 100# ~ but Im not a teacher !
Although. I studied Education in college, and was fully aware of the pay going in .... thats another reason this is a farce !!!
The sheeple are more concerned about what to do with the little darlings than they are the tax increases. The understand the former and most don’t even pay the latter.
Isn’t it the truth? You have to go to Walmart AFTER midnight in most parts of Houston to see the same freaks of Walmart you see here in the daylight.
A whole lot of people around here missed the part about house shoes and pajamas not being proper attire for going to town. Sunday best around here for Easter Dinner is a matched set of cammos and mossy oak cap.
What do you expect from a bunch of blanket ass redskins who gave up their homelands for a few bucks without a good fight followed by a bunch of claim jumping sooners who wanted something for nothing and were too late for the homestead act lands?
Successful oilmen gave this state buckets of money to build a legacy and it is almost all gone now. Squandered.
Don’t forget watching movies in class!

“No wonder people around the nation laugh at us.”
I have lived in MA my entire life and have NEVER heard one person say anything nasty about Oklahoma or it’s people.

Yeah, I know. Visiting an Oklahoma Walmart is a real experience. I once saw a guy change, (drain) his oil in the parking lot, (not kidding)...amazing.
“No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problem..”git in here!”
What the USA needs, sadly, is a massive wave of bankruptcy - corporate, State, and Federal
It will be brutal, but its the only thing that will end out-of-control government and debt.

Well come on out sometime. We’ll sit a spell and defrost a possum for supper. Good people live out here.
Agree. Epidemic in much of society! Personal grooming has fallen by the wayside. The little kiddies need uniforms ~ the way they schlep out of school in baggy, miss-matched clothing .
Was always taught, If you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good, you do good! . No longer a societal value.
And those character qualities my child comes with - gotta laugh - by what/ Whose authority do these qualities come ? Any time she gets reprimanded, and teachers ask for support from home, we tell them to have her write Bible verses like we do! Usually the last we hear of the whining.
I visited Oklahoma YEARS ago——it was my first airplane trip.
1955——prop planes——walk across the tarmac and go up the stairs to board-——meals served on china.
OKC and Lawton.
Pleasant memories.

I’d laugh if it was not so sad. They finally had to put a sign outside the auto parts stores here that says, “No repairs in parking lot.” I think some guy tried to overhaul his truck there.
I went to the counter at the auto service area at Walmart Saturday. The clerk was talking to some other employee who left when I walked up. The clerk just stood there until I asked him if he was working and could ring up my purchase. It took him more than an instant to wake up and say, “Oh, I forgot where I am.” He meant it that way.
Not as bad as Lagos though where I saw a bushman walking a Hyena on a big chain down the main drag. I expect it any day around here.
Close all public schools and send the students to private schools.
That is the sad part of it, there are positives that never get seen because the sea of negatives is so huge.

The employee was probably the manager.
Tulsa is as far as I go, maybe Bartlesville. If I wanted to have a Lagos ‘experience’, I’d have to go all the way to St Louis.
