Teachers carried signs and marched during a rally at the state Capitol in Oklahoma City on Monday calling for higher wages. Last week, the legislature in Oklahoma City voted to give teachers an average raise of $6,000 per year, or roughly 16 percent, depending on experience. Gov. Mary Fallin, a Republican, signed the package into law, but teachers said it was not enough. They have asked for a $10,000 raise as well as additional funding for schools and raises for support staff like bus drivers and custodians.

Because making twelve thousand more per year than the state median income while only working nine months is such mistreatment.

“Colleges” need to be disintermediated.
Cut the 6k increase and redistribute to bus drivers and capital. Surely they’ll do their part.
Wow, they make a pretty good living to corrupt and brainwash our kids. They should be fired. But we all know they will get exactly what they want. It’s for the children after all.
Maybe give it to them on condition the shut down their unions and end ties with NEA. Hence forth, they are simply citizens employed at the pleasure of the school district.
Student “walkouts”. Teacher “walkouts”. Let’s call the whole thing off. Schools have become a waste of taxpayer dollars.
Disband the public school systems and go to a voucher system. The best teachers will get massive raises. Some of the smartest will end up owning schools.

While I’m glad the teachers got a raise Oklahoma has financial problems. It’s seems the teachers are to ignorant to understand it so they are pouting like spoiled children. They are losing the support of the citizenry, but, politically incorrect to say anything.

I saw footage on one of the news channels. If the announcer hadn’t said the group were teachers and that the venue was in Oklahoma City, I would have guess it was a “homeless” march in Boston.
My favorite part of the media coverage is when CNN shows the salaries by state but not the cost of living.
16% increase? That’s obscene!
If they were teaching reading and writing and arithmetic instead of anarchy and rebellion . . .
Fire them all. Offer to hire them back at 20% less. They won’t find a better job
