Yes! It was great! I puttered a bit, but nothing strenuous or fussy. LOL!
How was your day? I hope it was clear and sunny there, too. It started off kind of chilly here...47...but ended up in the 80s. Go figure.
Two Harbors has their first egg! Carry on.... LOL!
Thanks for the posting.
I worked at Air Force Space Command and Air Force Systems Command Detachment 1 at Peterson.
Retired in 2002.
Nice pictures, brought back many memories.
P.S. Also spent a year remote at Campion Air Force Station in Alaska way back then (9 miles up a gravel road from Galena, AK). It has since been torn down and is the location of the village dump. Ah yes, time marches on.
Oh no...more storms?? The fields can’t dry out that way!!
Hey there, Kathy.
There are some mighty cool planes in the pix on the museum site, that’s for sure. I can check out war planes all day long on the ground and not get woozy. LOL! It’s getting on a plane to fly that ain’t a-gonna happen.
I hope you’re right about no more snow for y’all. You’ve had more than your share of crummy weather up there over the winter.
Things have dried up a little bit but we’re getting storms rolling through here tomorrow night that will soak everything again.
Spring planting will happen when it dries out enough and the soil is warm enough. Going to be a little while longer.
Awesome! Sounds like a fabulous day you had.
It was mostly cloudy here but the sun peeked out several times. A nice breeze out of the south and it got up to 75 degrees. Tomorrow is supposed to be around 80 but with strong winds ahead of the cold front. It’ll be another evening of keeping an eye on the radar in case tornados blow up.
Dang, I haven’t been able to catch the eagles at Two Harbors when I’ve checked, but then I haven’t checked regularly. It’s time to do that apparently. :-)
I did see that the second eaglet has hatched at Decorah.
I saw the news...but haven’t seen the baby for myself. Guess it was hatched when I was napping. I hope the 3rd one comes as fast so it doesn’t get bullied. Although the Decorah parents seem to have pretty mild eaglets.
I turned TH on just in time before the light from the sun died away. Darn IR must be kaput. It’s pitch black there now at night....now when we NEED it to be on. LOL!
Oh yes, more storms. :-(
Could be a rough night because it’s a strong cold front coming through.
It’s that time of year.
At least there’s a stretch of dry weather afterwards and things will dry out again. But the nights are going to be cold the rest of this week.
I just happened to see its lil head pop up when I was watching a feeding just before the cam went to IR for the night. Saw no bonking at all. I agree they seem to have mellow eagles, unlike Sauces first two.
They do have rewind at TH. She was bearing down at 5:24 this evening, wanting that egg OUT.
Good evening, Luv...to the Colorado mountains we go.
Aaaaaaaaand....it's STILL snowing in JH! LOL! Texted with my son earlier today and he was thrilled. Means more chances to do some X-country skiing with Piper. Callie, at 5, has a hard time ke ping up, but she'll learn. No WAY do I want to live there. Even though I enjoy watching the snow on the cams. It's so beautiful as I sit in my warm house in Texas. :)
I went to look when you posted about the egg earlier and was happy to see she’d laid within the 4 hours. Got a good look but didn’t get any scaps.
Whew, it’s snowing all across that part of the country. Will winter EVER GO AWAY? It sounds like your son and Piper are having fun with it but I imagine most folks are sick and tired of it by now. You know the birds and critters are.
They’re calling for frost here a couple of nights later this week and I need to remember to cover the toad lilies I noticed are coming up today. The leaves are still too small and tender to handle frost.
I can’t believe y’all are still having weather so cold that it cause frost! And here we are in the 80s in the afternoons. It has been a weird year and everyone says so!
What are toad lilies? I guess I could Bing it, huh. LOL!
It's supposed to be 80 here tomorrow, then only around 50 Wed. And Wed. night is the first frost warning.
Toad lilies are beautiful flowers but they're small. I wish they were larger so their beauty could be shown off better. You have to get so close to admire them.
Good evening, mountainlion. Good old pothole season...we’ve been experiencing it for several weeks. Breakup is possibly here with lots of melting and not much snow. Most of the main roads are pretty dry now and the potholes can be seen ahead of time.
I hope yours are all visible and you are successful in dodging them all.
Oooo....they’re gorgeous! Almost look like orchids!
Yes, they do look similar to orchids but they’re tiny blooms. Such a shame because they’re so pretty.
Dad had mentioned one day that he and his wife had just planted some and I’d never heard of them before. I looked them up and immediately ordered some.
Of the five I got, only two clumps survive. Late cold weather took out the others so I need to do what I can to save these. I didn’t know they were coming up already until I yanked weeds in the bed this afternoon.
Are they perennials? Will the two that didn’t come up this year come back next year? I had never heard of them either. I’ll bet they wouldn’t even grow in our arid climate.
