In Episode 15 of Season 6 (March 22, 2018), Chicago Fire shows scenes where a man’s ammunition is set off by a fire. Bullets shoot everywhere, seriously wounding both the man’s mother and a fireman.

That’s pretty much what it would sound like if my place caught fire, there are about 20k, plus 160 pounds of powder and 30k primers.

There was a case where someone stored their pistol in the oven. Someone turned the oven on, and the round in the chamber went off, exiting the side of the stove.
I remember seeing a demonstration in American Rifleman where a centerfield rifle round was put on a hot plate and covered by a 18” square cardboard box. When it cooked off nothing pierced the box.
One fireman was complaining because “guns were loaded”. It was obvious the scriptwriters were complete fools. If guns were loaded, the only rounds that might possibly go off would be the ones in the chamber, and not from the mechanical action of the firing pin having impacted the round. Other rounds might go off inside the magazines, but would more than likely jam the mechanisms. Unloaded ammo could have cooked off, but odds are the casings would have gone flying rather than the bullet, or both casings and bullets would both go flying in opposite directions, with less velocity than there would be if fired from a gun.
But I can load a bunch more! I have relatively few .22LR maybe 5 or 6k
I cut to the chase and asked a couple of firemen about that. They don’t consider it any more dangerous than any other flammable material - mind you nothing that burns is safe, but then just about everything does. They don’t like propane bottles very much, though.
I can never seem to acquire that many rounds , seem they get used as fast as I can reload ,Do have more that just a couple of large ammo cans that are full.30MM size

I wouldn't even go that far.
One of a hand grenades defining characteristics is lethal fragmentation. Uncontained ammo burning is more like a firecracker. Lots of noise, lightweight bits of brass casing fly around. If your eyes are protected you're probably fine.
