Much true. When I was a kid I had all kinds of guns and ammo in my bedroom. If I even thought of chambering a round in the house Dad would have given me a .....stern look.

Rowe said that the children of recent generations are not radically different from those that preceded them; rather it is "the parents who have changed."

Mike Rowe will literally be crucified.

That is something people absolutely do not want to confront.

Any boy,of any color, who grows up fatherless has 2.9999 strikes against him as he enters adolescence and adulthood.

Can’t argue with his conclusions. The rampant divorce rate and the lack of stigma for out-of-wedlock childbirth have led to that.

They're not just fatherless and have no male role model in their lives, they're also BULLIED.

Emma Gonzalez spoke about how the MSD high school shooter was ostracised by her and others, and spoke about how he "deserved it." Isn't this a form of bullying?

Could one of the reasons these shooters are committing these acts also be because they've been bullied by the people/types of people they're killing?

And he got BLASTED for that.

Saying kids need father figures is racist and sexist.

My wife was told that in a teachers meeting the other day. She laughed.

Who needs fathers? The government will take care of you and your children! LBJ assured that.

"It's the parents who actually believe ‘the village' will raise their kids," Rowe said. "When the village is profoundly incapable of doing anything of the sort."

My late Grandfather lost his father around age 8 to cancer. My best friend had his Dad walk out about the same age.

One day, I suddenly realized that those two (separated by over 65 years) had a lot of the same issues. Neither one had any idea of how to be a father, and it showed. Both are royal bastards, but ones who never were told “no” to certain behaviors.

Now my grandfather raised a family successfully, but the emotional scars he had affected my Dad, my Uncle, and their kids. My best friend has four kids, and has had similar issues.

I wonder what would have happened if either of those two men had a father in their lives. Both turned out “OK”, but the damage done to them has rippled out to other generations. When I look at some of the dang near feral children out there now, I shudder. Many of them not only have no idea of what being a father or a man is, they have no check on their behavior.

Even if marriage came back into vogue, it would take four or five generations to repair the damage.

Maybe “fatherless” should be made illegal.

Why doesn’t Mike run for office already?

He’s got a lot more in common with the average American slob than most people on TV.

His stances on most issues seem sane and decent. Why no?
