Trump Considers Invoking Emergency Law to Halt Chinese Acquisitions of U.S. Firms

After announcing tariffs on Chinese imported goods last week, the Trump administration is now considering a crackdown on Chinese investments in U.S. tech firms that develop sensitive technologies.
Bloomberg reported on March 28 that the administration was considering invoking the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, enacted in 1977, which allows the president to declare a national emergency for an unusual and extraordinary threat.
The president would be allowed to block transactions and seize assets.
Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross also hinted at further action in an interview with Fox Business Network on March 27. There will be limitations on foreign investment, he said, while also noting that there is pending legislation in Congress designed to give the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. (CFIUS), the panel that currently reviews foreign acquisitions, more power.
The Chinese regime has been assisting and directing Chinese firms in the acquisitions of American tech firms for furtherance of national interests, rather than mere commercial goals, according to analysts.

That is pretty stiff. In addition to tariffs, Chinese assets in U.S. can be seized.
P!
It’s wacist but, do it anyway...
And maybe the publication has an emotional influence to put more heat under relations with China.

Sometimes it is better to post an article from a minor publication than major outlets. Their headlines tend to be more specific and the article's content is an abridged version of the original article, which tend to contain lengthy background stories.
What the excerpt above says is pretty much factual.
For something really creepy, scroll down a couple of stories on that same page to the video on the organ transplant industry in China.
It’s not racist. There would be a block against Russian firms doing the same (if there were such Russian firms). And there is no problem with people of Chinese origin but Americans running firms (as opposed to first generation immigrants)
What the Clinton/Bush/Obama gang did to our country is appalling.
So much of what Trump is doing is taking preventative measures to keep what should be out of the hands of potential “bad actors” out of their hands. A lasting peace, through strength, is the overall objective. We owe him a debt of gratitude just for trying but I expect that he’ll succeed beyond expectation.
And now just right out of ‘1984’ they are setting Russia up as our opponent in the next era.
Being allowed to and doing it are different cats...
Well, it’s ironic with the corollary foundation of “banning Mud slims”...
The turtle will have a cow.
His family got very rich colluding with the chicoms.
Don’t “consider”; do it.
Thank you. Later in the day here, the phrase, “sensitive technologies,” appears more prominently in the excerpt to me. I see a little better now. ;-)
