I guess it's a given if you use the internet it's going to happen more often than not. You really can't go anywhere or do much of anything without leaving a record somewhere. Until some are conveniently lost, cameras weren't working, film overwritten after 2 weeks, etc.

I don't know which outweighs which, but some of it has helped to catch dangerous criminals and evidence to convict them.

In China they're giving out good citizenship points or whatever they call it and if you have a low number or negative number you can't, among other things, use public mass transit.

I seriously doubt Apple is shutting down in China to protect the rights of Chinese or even refusing to allow the Chinese government access to whatever information they say is critical to the citizenship points system.
