China said on Wednesday North Korean leader Kim Jong Un pledged to denuclearize the Korean peninsula during an historic meeting in Beijing with President Xi Jinping, who promised China would uphold its friendship with its isolated neighbor.
After two days of speculation, China and North Korea both confirmed on Wednesday that Kim had visited Beijing and met Xi during what Chinas official Xinhua news agency called an unofficial visit from Sunday to Wednesday.
The trip was Kims first known journey abroad since he assumed power in 2011 and is believed by analysts to serve as preparation for upcoming summits with South Korea and the United States.

China explained the facts of life to N. Korea. China does a lot of business with the US and wants to keep it that way.
This is another Trump victory, though the media is not giving him any credit.
I do not trust the ChiComs any more than the NorKors
The point is that China has self interest in staying friendly with the US.
Wow, what a whopper.
I got a bridge ta sell ya..!
Will wait, and watch. NOT holding my breath however as the “visit” was “unofficial”.
SUPER-sized: CLINTON sez Zuck sez China sez NK promised to de-nuke.
Assuring the Norks they are under a Chinese nuclear umbrella is about as good as its going to get in denuclearizing rocket man.
Then the carrot - of opening North Korea to Chinese investment in development.
Yes China gets to rape resources from yet another country
But at least rocket man is not lobbing missiles toward Japan
Economic competition over the Korean peninsula- another issue for the future
China will get the MSM Peace Prize.
Our dismantle team lands tomorrow.
We will have 100% unfettered access to any and every nuclear related sight.
Two cargo ships have been dispatched and will dock at port x for removal of dismantled program components.
Any resistance or refusal to cooperate will result in severe consequence.
Have a nice day!
“The trip was Kims first known journey abroad since he assumed power...”
Not really a journey abroad, the two countries share a border.
Yeah. the best we can “win” seems to be Chinese expansion into half of Korea.
Maybe Trump can get US investment into NK too. Be tricky to do.
It’s 100% about the Chicoms seeking to control the Norks’ undeveloped, but abundant, mineral resources (and supercheap slave labor).
In fairness, they see US expansion into the southern half of Korea
So just sayin’
I think we’ll stay and would rather be looking at Chinese factories on the other side of the DMZ than a NK clone army
I’d say Rocket-man’s angle is that he’ll agree to “denuclearizing” for a while, same as Iran, if Trump gives him the deal that Obama gave Iran.
Yep. My take is that China told NK to wait Trump out.
I guarantee you if Trump loses in 2020, NK will be back to its old tricks and President Kamala Harris will be appeasing him just like the other Presidents did before Trump.
That #%*# Trump. He’s going to blow up the world. /s
“Not really a journey abroad, the two countries share a border.”
Yeah. About 500 miles.
Easy to reunify. Just remove all the minefields, Nork soldiers, and barbed wire from the border and let all the prisoners escape.
If this happens, and the Norks give up their nukes... Donald will become a very popular name for newborns.
Does anyone think that with Hillary there would be the slightest chance of this? Or Bush, (any Bush) or Obama?
This will rock the world.
Yeah, it’s a trip abroad. He is terrified of a coup happening in his absence. So it’s actually a pretty big deal.
