How radical can the Democrats get if they take over the government again? What used to be an extreme position - reparations to black people for slavery - is now entering the mainstream of Democratic party thought and could become a reality once the Democrats regain power.
Reparations have been mentioned since the end of slavery, but in recent years, it has been elevated to a serious issue by liberal Democrats. Rep. Maxine "Mad Max" Waters, appears to want to make it a cornerstone of a run for the presidency in 2020.
WATERS: “He’s a bully — he has a bully mentality. We need someone in the presidency who not only has good sense but understands diplomacy and understands what we need to do to have peace in this world so we can all look forward to the possibility that we’re someday going to have a world that’s about peace and justice and respect for individual liberty.”
RYE: “Is that your stump speech for 2020? — Is she running? Is she running?”

In order to get where we need to go on this issue and other issues, we really got to understand that 2018 is important in taking back the House and taking back the Senate ... I need to take back that House so that we can have a majority in that committee.”

Maxine, my relatives came here in the 1920s and 1940s, so WHY should I be punished? My grandfather, came from Italy, built 8 homes, worked in the coal mines and LEARNED ENGLISH. He then went to Minnesota , worked in the copper mines, built 10 houses before moving back to Pennsylvania. Should I be punished? There was a zero chance of reparations when the Democrats controlled Congress before. There is a zero chance of it if they regain control in 2018.

Doesn’t matter: the Constitution forbids working corruptions of blood and that’s what has to happen for anyone today to have any financial liability for slavery.
If they can find an actual living freedman to sue his former master, also still living, then they can have at it.

Enough reparations have been paid already in every conceivable way. Looking at the poor state of White America, I’d say too much was already given.
-Reparations for descendants of slaves prior to and during the American War Between the States will involve the currency of the day and from the losing side.

Republicans should offer a bill to give blacks reparations, and tax the democrat party, the party of slavery, to pay for it.
