The Federal Trade Commission confirmed a probe into how Facebook secures information shared by billions of users as CEO Mark Zuckerberg fights to regain customer confidence in the social media giant's privacy protections.
The commission, which reached a settlement in 2011 with the Menlo Park, Calif.-based company on its handling of user data, "takes very seriously recent press reports raising substantial concerns about the privacy practices of Facebook," Tom Pahl, acting director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection, said in a statement on Monday. The commission "has an open non-public investigation into these practices, he said.
The FTC, which enforces privacy regulations in the U.S., is inquiring about information acquired by Donald Trump's campaign consultant, Cambridge Analytica, on Facebook users and their connections, or "friends," within the platform's network, according to a person familiar with the matter.

I have always thought Facebook was an intel community thing.
What better way to spy on everyone than to have each and every person VOLUNTEER THEIR PERSONAL INFORMATION so big brother can watch your every move and KNOW HOW YOU THINK?
Looks like a Nakajima Tony.
Ooooh, maybe the liberals’ solution will be to control the press. Will that satisfy the frothers?? Maybe they could eliminate that pesky Bill of Rights altogether.
I never post on Facebook. The most I do is wish someone happy birthday or occasionally “like” someone’s post.
Beast corportions. Not freedom or merit based.
This a fake scandal.
“I have always thought Facebook was an intel community thing.”
Definitely suspicious from the git-go. It’s free for everyone to join and use. Zuckerberg and FB are worth BBBillions of dollars. One of those thing that make you go, “Hmmm...”
As someone said, if you’re not paying for a product, you ARE the product.
If you ask me, it should be the Federal ELECTION Commission that is investigating Fakebook in general, and Zuckerberg and the rest of the 2012 Board of Directors in particular, for violations of the campaign finance laws.
If you posted that you “liked” someone’s post on Facebook Yucky Zuck will track everything you do for the rest of your life.
Nothing to worry about.... :-(
That is why Facebook must be broken into a million pieces and the ashes burnt.
Kawasaki lets the good times roll!
What I am enjoying is the revelation that Zuckerberg maybe an internet genius, but is a total failure as a manager or leader.
For some reason, people seem to think that just because a couple of brainy kids put together something as clever as Facebook, that makes them corporate managers and CEO material.
Zuckerberg’s recent pathetic whining, playing the victim, and incoherent ramblings pretty much proves he is waaaay over his head when it comes to actually managing a company.
I see that now.
Kawasaki Ki-61?
Powered by a Daimler V-12 derivative and designed by a German aircraft engineer.
The engine cowl and the radiator underneath is the clue.
