Were well into the NFLs free agency period and veteran safety Eric Reid still hasnt signed with a team, even though hes proven to be a reliable contributor over five seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. Last week, Reid said his current unemployment stems from the fact that he has continued to protest social issues during the playing of the national anthem, even with former 49ers teammate Colin Kaepernick out of the league in 2017.
On Thursday, however, Reid announced that he wont be taking a knee during the national anthem upon his return to the field, instead promising to raise awareness via other methods.
We understand you have to change with the times, Reid told reporters after his younger brother took part in Stanfords pro day for NFL scouts. Im not saying Im going to stop being active because I wont. Im just going to consider different ways to be active, different ways to bring awareness to the issues of this country and improve on the issues happening in this country. I dont think it will be in the form of protesting during the anthem...

Reid also said he wouldn’t protest at the beginning of last season... yet, there he was, taking his knee from the first game on.
Eric Reid was a 1st round draft pick that did not play up to his billing. Too many missed tackles. He’s worth 5 million per year. No $5million offer = something is wrong. $7 million-he’s not worth it. I’m sure he’s respectful in the locker room. I just hope he does not milk his victim status now that he’s not worth the $7 mil.
A little late to be shutting the barn door.
We lived about 5 miles south of Orick. Orick was the city to me and my brothers.
I'm not saying I'm going to stop being active because I won't. IOW, he didn't say he won't protest during the National Anthem.
Turns out, he's not so special. Thanks 11th_VA.
The phone's not ringing, and they're beginning to realize that their services—the services of a divisive player who spits in the faces of their own fans, and disrespects the American flag—are not in as high demand as they might have thought.
Oh, I'm sure that Eric Reid will sign with some team—now that he has capitulated and admitted defeat—albeit for somewhat less money than the market might otherwise have provided.
Isn't it nice that NFL team owners, players, and fans have had this little talk?
I knew it would be...
How...white of him.
It’s late March. They’ve had a chance to crunch last year’s numbers. Advertising prices are being set. And the word’s gone out.
I envy you. Beautiful place to grow up.
Too late now, Mr. Communist.
You forgot the "Harumph."
what will all the protest whiners do if we JUST DON'T CARE ANYMORE!
Despite what my husband believes I can not (quite) quote the entire movie line for line.
Do these players have no integrity. They need to stick to their principles and keep kneeling. Just because they might lose their job is no reason to compromise. I mean , come on, even if you have to kneel on a street corner with a hat (or helmet) begging for change (pun intended), at least you can hold your head up high.
Stupid turd. He didnt make it thru college because of his smarts. I guarantee that!
:-)
One of the best movies.....Ever.
“I didn’t get a Harumph from that guy!”
I still won’t be watching him no matter what team he plays for. I gave up football last year for Lent, and I’m not even Catholic.
Just wait till you see what I give up for Kwanzaa.
Kwanzaa, the holiday celebrated only by white, young, elementary school teachers.
