Dick's Disses Gun Owners, Sales and Stock Prices Drop

Dick's Sporting Goods took the politically correct route to placate media pushed gun control after the mass murder in Florida. They banned the sale of the popular AR-15 type rifles and said they would refuse to sell rifles to people under 21 years old. Federal law requires that gun dealers not sell rifles and shotguns to people less than 18 years old. It wasn't the first time the controversial chain had put political correctness ahead of stockholders and customer.

CEO Edward Stack said he expected to lose sales. From cnn.com:

The CEO of Dick's Sporting Goods said he's forging ahead with his new gun sales policy, even though he expects to lose customers.

“There's going to be some pushback and we expected that,” said CEO Edward Stack, in an earnings call with Wall Street analysts. “There are going to be the people who don't shop us anymore for anything.”

A couple of weeks later, sales have dropped, and so has Dick's stock price. Fortune magazine says that the drop in stock price should not be assumed to have anything to do with the store's decision to anger a significant percentage of its customers. From fortune.com:

Showing contempt for half the country is not a good way to increase profits.

Shareholders...

Time to ditch your CEO. He’s trashing your company and not acting in your best interest

Assuming the drops have nothing to do with this is the height of idiocy and denial of reality.

I am in the market for some sporting goods, and will go into Dick’s only to view merchandise for real, and price shop

And waste their time

I won’t dare spend a dime

As long as they don’t discriminate against the LGBT, I guess it’s OK, but I will will not grace their doors.

Good idea
Go in and just ask so many questions then check out all the different merchandise and have a good time but not buy anything

Anything is right. It isn't just guns that won't be bought at Dick's. I've bought bowling and bicycle goods from them over the last couple years. I'll never buy any sports goods from them, ever again. They lost me as a customer. Feel like throwing my bowling ball through their window, but not spending my bucks there will hurt them more.

A Dicks opened near me. I’ve been there 3 time. Grand daughter likes to run around inside. Over priced. Still have yet to buy anything there.

That does appear on its face to be a pretty good cause for action regarding dereliction of fiduciary duty...

A CEO has a fiduciary obligation to protect the corporation's fiscal stability. This is an open admission that he cares less about his obligations than he cares about appeasing the Screaming Leftists.

So do they have carts? Maybe fill up a cart with items from all parts of the store. Then remember that they are anti-Constitution and leave.

Cabela’s is now owned by Bass Pro Shops, so I think you need to be careful about Cabela’s ongoing gun sales policies. The new owner may have different ideas.

So Cal had numerous sporting goods stores around 2012. Then Sports Authority declared bankruptcy in March 2016 after . Then Sports Chalet went out of business in May 2016.

When I asked the manager of a local Big 5 how he stayed open, he said, “By selling a lot of cheap shoes.”

Dick’s Sporting Goods. Too proud to take a hint.

He needs to check out what happened to Smith & Wesson when they did the same kind of virtue signaling by joining Clinton & Reno in a gun grabbing conspiracy. They were driven bankrupt. Let’s help the same thing happen to Dick’s.
