Yes there is reason to know this is not correct. Omnibus bills are a gimmick by the party in power, currently the Republicans. Trump could have vetoed this bill and forced Congress to send him a separate appropriations bill for the defense department which is the normal way of appropriating: 12 spending bills for each major department of government. That’s as close to a line item veto as we can get.
Stick a fork in me. I’m done. We can finish our road to Hell in November.
Just saw Charlie Hurt on FOX say that he sees no reason for Republican voters to continue to vote for Republicans. I agree!!!
As usual, Wisconsin Voters get six of one, half=dozen of the other between Baldwin (D) and Johnson (R).
Sorry, this is meaningless. The vote was taken after it was known it was going to pass. Don’t give anybody a pass for voting no. The Congressional GOP owns this pile of garbage. All of them.
What if Id told you a year ago that Trump would someday sign a budget bill that had more Republicans than Democrats voting NAY?
/rhetoricalQuestion
I’d tell you it was an episode of beltway theater and pay no attention to the final vote. The cake was baked before the CYA votes were even cast.
McCaskill (D-MO) Voted against it.
First time shes ever done that. Bitch.
All the evidence you need right here that this vote was beltway theater and we shouldn’t take any stock from it.
Thanks I was looking for that.
Sorry that doesnt cut it. Every president has a staff of people that coordinate with Congress on major legislation to make sure that whatever is being written is something that the president can go along with.
Claiming ignorance and being blind sided is either pure bologna or incompetence.
And the conservative lions in Congress who parachuted in yesterday to vote no? What of them? Are excuse them for going AWOL when we needed them most?
This bill was not immaculately conceived yesterday. This garbage has been brewing for quite some time.
And which of those lions was standing in the floor of the Senate and sounding the alarm about impending disaster from “liar” McConnell? I’ll buy you a clue: none of them.
Not veto proof in House.
TIME FOR TRUMP TO GROW A SET OF BALLS AND VETO THIS RINO BILL!!
Absolutely veto proof in the House. But only after a few weeks of the Democrats enjoying a GOP Civil War. Trump wasn’t going to get a better deal than this. So that’s why he took it.
So glad my guy (Rohrabacher) voted no.
Looks like the Senate had the votes to override a veto.
The House, a bit shy
Looking at the Senate vote no guarantee Trump could have held a filibuster. Maybe that clockclucker McConnel flucked Trump over.

In all seriousness, what would have happened had he vetoed the bill???
Any legal eagles with political saltiness have any guesses?
Claudia Tenney a YEA. SMH.
"Border Wall: $1.571 billion is included for border wall assets and infrastructure. This includes 25 miles of new levee wall in TX, 8 miles of new bollard wall in TX, and $196 million in border technology. This is an important investment to secure our Southern Border."This is flimflam.
In fact, the spending bill does not build Trump's wall but explicitly restricts funding for any of the wall prototypes Trump has inspected. The $1.6 billion is actually for repairs, drones, and pedestrian fencing (including in Texas), but no wall construction. A "bollard wall" is really a fence!
“The Senate increased its total salaries of officers and employees by $12.6 million in the 2,232-page bill that lawmakers had fewer than 48 hours to read and vote on. “
