The homeless are mostly Americans.

Illegals have their own parallel universe here- they crowd into houses and apartments, live in garages and backyards. Blight entire neighborhoods and towns thanks to the worthless amnesty pushing hacks in both political parties.

I vote to help those who are not using alcohol or drugs and have not assaulted anyone.

Irvine, Huntington Beach, & Laguna Niguel are putting together NIMBY resolutions as fast as they can, “emergency meetings” & all. But the homeless & mentally ill explosion has in fact impacted them already. I rode a county bus line along the coast a few months back. One fellow rider reeked of urine and could barely maneuver his ailing oversized frame on & off the bus - I guessed he was living in the weeds in some ravine near the Fashion Island shopping center. Another rider made it his business to stand in front of others and stare at them - he obviously had mental issues. Haven’t ridden that line since.

Why should a street corner beggar give up his $50,000 income?

A couple of times here in the OC I've seen a car pull up and take a shady parking spot near a freeway off-ramp, the driver or passenger get out to retrieve a cardboard sign from the trunk of the car, and then amble over to the median signal light of the off-ramp taking up his station for panhandling. One of the guys probably had MS, but I'd guess he was on state disability

Build prisons and arrest them for drug abuse and vagrancy. Back when we had such laws, I don’t remember this rampant problem. It’s not just confined to The People’s Sewer of Kalifornia.

“”He complained about all the foreign drivers in OC””

I think they used to refer to that as DWO....especially anywhere around UCI. It has to be much, much worse now than it was when we bailed out. Rohrabacher was our congressman after Chris Cox - reapportioned, I believe. Liked them both but I don’t think the residents get the luxury of choosing conservatives any longer.

According to those who have been vetting the urban campers of the Santa Ana River Trail:

1/3 are drug or alcohol abusers 1/3 are crazy 1/3 are criminals

That's why I start to froth at the mouth every time I hear about accommodations for these people -- at taxpayer's expense -- rather than hard-working, but struggling, families. There is something wrong with a society that rewards people for irresponsibility or amorality.

Thank you.

Amazing how many, here, disagree with your concept.

It’s beyond craziness to be paying these people to be a public nuisance if not an outright danger to public health. Not to mention the explosion of crime that we have been experiencing since Prop 47 & 57 let so many criminals out early to add to the mix.

Our idiot local politicians of both parties act like their #1 job is to cater to these losers. Screw the normal public, make their neighborhoods a nightmare.

I have no problem paying to care for the mentally ill, but we have to return them to institutions and quit putting them out in the suburbs on their own where they stop taking their meds and start pushing shopping carts down the street.

Stick them in the old MCAS El Toro. The surrounding area used to complain about noise. The homeless will be quieter.

“”Was Thumbs Carllile his guitarist at those shows?

Oh! My goodness - I wouldn’t have any idea. I thought he was playing guitar solo with his singing. Was I wrong? I have a CD and I think he covered every song at that concert but I’ll have to see if there’s a guitarist listed on that.

Certainly did enjoy an evening of his music...had other people with me and couldn’t convince them we should stay for more shows...I think our daughter was about 5 (maybe ‘77 -’78) and she had to grow up listening to all my favorite music - Broadway show tunes, instrumentals (Herb Alpert/Al Hirt/Floyd Cramer/Chet Atkinson)...among others. Today my husband in retirement stays glued to the TV and my music is out in the dining room unless I put CD’s in my computer but I don’t have CD’s of everything - wish I did. Have a turntable for records I kept but same thing - not where I can listen....

Lived in Irvine and loved the “noise” - especially watching the Blue Angels from the patio. Drove to the base once and it was too much of a mad house and never drove there again. It would have been faster to walk....
