Throughout the 2016 election cycle and ever since, Ive been hearing that the Democratic Party has no bench. This is 100 percent true. When it comes to credible presidential prospects, the Democratic Party has several rows of benches. The Democratic Party has bleachers.
Dozens of prominent Democrats are at least flirting with running in 2020, and while its easy to look at them and play Goldilocks too cold, too hot, too bald, too blond, too Wall Street, too wordy its just as easy to believe. The perfect person? The party certainly lacks that. But potentially effective candidates? Its lousy with them, though we chromosomally dyspeptic pundits prefer to shake our heads and sigh.
Republicans crowed about their supposed bounty in 2016 even as Donald Trump laid waste to it. Democrats bemoan their slim pickings in 2020 even though the field is positively obese. There are elders in their 70s and whippersnappers below 50; governors who can present themselves as Washington outsiders and senators who can tout their inside game; show horses and workhorses; progressives who didnt just conveniently rechristen themselves that way and moderates whod probably be potent in the general election if they could just survive the primaries. There are Westerners and Easterners and, in happy contrast to cycles past, more than a few women and people of color.
To worry that theres no obvious winner is to ignore history. Presidents arent obvious until theyre sitting at the Resolute Desk (and sometimes not even then). Consider the last three.
Back in 2000, George W. Bush didnt have gobs of governance under his cowboy belt; he wasnt any dynamo on the stump; and his chief primary opponents included Orrin Hatch, Steve Forbes, Gary Bauer and Alan Keyes. If thats a bench, give me a toadstool.

If you say so. I only see these people:
Considering that the last FOUR Presidents refused to enforce the laws and borders and this one is on our side, I doubt it matters who the Democrats run.
Some of us have been waiting for 30 years for a President who sided with the citizens and the rule of law.
This sort of arrogant snarking attitude is exactly how Dems crashed and burned in 2016. Why, in 2016 Hillary was a given. It was time for a women president. The “glass ceiling” was going to be shattered. Trump? Ha, ha, ha! He has zero chance of winning as all the experts will tell you.
The Mueller investigation should have ended first thing this AM. There's plenty of cause to do so with this past weekends revelations. If he waits much longer to end it, he'll miss this window of opportunity.

As of yesterday, there are 46 seats without a Republican candidate to run against Democrats. Remember the Dems only need 24 seats to control the house. Where are the RNC, @GOP, and @GOPChairwoman? Do you really want to WIN or is this a deliberate setup to lose?
The Smartest Woman in the World would be running against a reality TV star, World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Famer and real estate developer?
How could she possibly lose?
They have no platform
I guess it’s never too early for the “Surrender Dorothy!” stories. At least half of the media support for the Russia-Russia-Russia silliness is embarrassment that they were so completely wrong in ‘16. “Russians, see? Had to be Russians. Russians, yeah, that’s the ticket.” Sure, pal. And the Dems have such a deep bench that they’re going to run Hillary again. And Trump will never break the Blue Wall. Blahblahfricketyblah.
1. Equality, Founding Fathers All men are created equal (Declaration of Independence). Men are not created with the same abilities or circumstances and it is not governments role to attempt to make them the same. They are born with the same rights.
Progressives It is the governments responsibility to correct inequality through redistribution & control.
Where are those 46 seats? For example, heavily black districts sometimes don’t have a Republican nominee because, for unknown reasons, blacks vote Democrat 90+% of the time.
If there are any competitive districts with no GOP nominees, that is a travesty.
Their platform is hate.
...and Hillary has a 98% chance of winning in 2016.
They dont look so pretty to me.
How is President Hillary doing?
We make a huge mistake if ignore the tremendous turnout of baby-killers on election day. We simply have to have a plan to vote, as well. A new Contract With America would do the trick, I think.
And Moore and Saccone were going to win......eye roll.
The Rats were telling us on Election Day 2016 they had a 99% chance of victory.
If anyone things whichever Marxist loser the Rats dredge up in 2020will beat The Trump they are sorely mistaken
