When I was in Germany, circa 1993-1997, I lived in a small village among the schnapps makers. They made Kirsh (Cherry), Pflaumen (Plum), Birnen (Pear) and Mirabellen (cross between a peach and a cherry—not sure) Schnapps.
The place was beautiful in the Spring when everything was in bloom...
Anyway, I helped a lot. I had brought my Ford Pickup truck from the states, first to Italy (what stories I could tell about driving that there!), and then to Germany. So I hauled a lot of barrels of mash to the village distillery.
Anyway, I brought back about 25 quart bottles with me. Since then I just don’t drink at home like I did in Germany, so I still have about 20 full bottles. They have aged from 25 to 22 years. I think I’m not going to finish all of them before I die, but they are well aged!
Unlike me.
Let’s have a party!! and just drink it all up
sounds like a life well lived.
I remember my father making home made gin from some green berries - god, that stuff was terrible but than, I was only Eight or nine. Now I only drink the good stuff, unfortunately I do not have enough $$$ to stay drunk
Never was much of a drinker of any hard liquor, but your Schnapps collection sounds intriguing.
Put a few up on E Bay or something. I would consider buying a jug.
