New York Rep. Louise Slaughter, the top Democrat on the powerful House Rules Committee and the only microbiologist in the Congress, died Friday at a Washington hospital just days after being injured in a fall at home, her congressional office said.
She was 88.

This is more Leftist academic bias like referring constantly to Dr. Jill Biden while skipping Ph.D and M.D. degrees held by people who don’t follow their creed. I call no one "Doctor" unless they have a medical degree or a Ph.D. in hard math or science.

Dr. mrs. jimfree uses her title when it is appropriate to the circumstances, e.g., speaking at a conference in her field. Oh, by the way, her dissertation reports the history of the transition from natural to synthetic dyes from the 1830s to the 1880s. The study included the science of dye chemistry, economics in the industry, and popular culture evidence.

In 2016, according to the CDC, 18,160 people received an AIDS diagnosis. Since the epidemic began in the early 1980s, 1,232,246 people have received an AIDS diagnosis. In 2014, there were 12,333 deaths of people with diagnosed HIV infection classified as AIDS.
In 2016, according to the FBI, there were 11,004 homicides in the US involving firearms.
HIV seems a bigger problem than guns.
I do not remember Obama (or any Democrat) ever preaching against unsafe sex or against drug abuse. Surely, as a microbiologist she would have understood how HIV is transmitted and told Obama about it.
