STUNNING: Jeff Sessions Cited the WRONG LAW when He Recused Himself from Russian Witch Hunt Took Advice From Obama Lawyers ( full title )
...
Sessions made the announcement the day after he was sworn in as Attorney General after advice from Obama lawyers in the Department of Justice.
...
legal expert Gregg Jarrett told Sean Hannity that Sessions used the WRONG LAW when announcing his recusal. He took advice from OBAMA OFFICIALS and they misled him.
Gregg Jarrett: He betrayed the president. He knew when he was sworn in that he was going to recuse himself and the very next day he put the recusal in motion. He never told the president about that. And by the way he cited the regulation in his recusal He cited the wrong law. It didnt apply.
Sara Carter: I think he was being advised badly at the time.
Gregg Jarrett: Yeah, by Obamas holdovers. Who in the world would believe them?

When Trump made noises about firing Sessions last summer, he was threatened with impeachment by REPUBLICANS. If not for that, he would have demanded that beady eyed weasel's resignation a year ago.
Why can’t he then “unrecuse” himself? Is a recusal permanent? Why should it be if there was skulduggery afoot? And ANYTHING close to an Obama or Clinton is nefarious as can be.
That should scuttle him. I wonder what dirt they have on him.
Excellent point
The thing is, Trump is no Nixon. :-)
Dis gone be guuud...
Before Oct, 2018?
Now that this is known, even to him, why doesn’t he unrecuse himself. It is not as if he is bound by some contract or something. Now that he KNOWS he cited the wrong law, he can just say “oops, I’m not recused anymore. Thanks for that”.
Embarrassing but at least he could get on with fulfilling his FULL duties.
If he sticks to his recusal, then he is double stupid for knowing he cited the wrong law and is STILL BINDING HIMSELF because of it. That would be the stupidest thing of all stupid things to do. Making a dumb mistake is one thing. Not correcting it once the facts come to light is just insanity.
Why hasn’t Trump fired Sessions like Tillerson?
I don’t know if it is true, but the conventional wisdom going around Free Republic is that Trump has been told that if he fires Sessions, the GOP Senate will not vote to approve any further AG nominee, leaving Rosenstein as the acting Attorney General for the next 6 years.
That is the story going around FR as to why Trump can’t fire Sessions. Because the alternative is worse due to the GOP Swamp.
Does that answer your question?
How does Sessions unrecuse himself? He already declared under oath, during his confirmation hearing, that he cannot be objective on these matters. How does he take that back. He can't. He'd be called a liar. He wouldn't have courage to do it anyway.
There's no putting the toothpaste back in the Jeff Session recusal tube.
“why doesnt he unrecuse himself”
Too late. An unrecused Sessions will still be an AG with no balls leaning on the advice of Obama lawyers every step of the way.
So, Trump misleads us, is that what youre saying? Hes actually quite pleased with Sessions? Trump lies to his voters? Trump is even in cahoots with Sessions, all this time? Wow.
So what is all the bashing about? Why does Trump ignore him in Cabinet coverage, where Jeff looks like a lamb on coals?
No, Trump can fire Sessions and move another cabinet official to his post without confirmation. Pruit was floated as a possible choice.
He doesn’t fire Sessions because Mueller will use it to build an obstruction case.
I don't think that is the right question. The answer to that question is, by the way, "yes."
Think instead about the scope of recusal. Sessions was challenged about participating in firing Comey, on the asinine basis that somehow his recusal from investigating the Trump campaign striped him of the power to manage the FBI.
Not in Sessions defense, but if the AG is the only "powerhouse" the DOJ has, capable of going after Comey, Crooked Hillary, and treason/sedition in general, we are truly screwed as a nation. Seriously, ONE MAN in THIS SPOT makes all the difference? Antithesis of "rule of law," if you ask me.
So Sessions was faking it under oath.
He was under oath, at his Senate confirmation hearing, when he said that he would recuse.
That may be the story going around FR, but it has no basis in fact. The president has substantial flexibility in shuffling the deck. See Vacancies Reform Act.
So Trump calls their bluff and fires both Sessions and Rosenstein, thereby daring the Senate in an election year Not to confirm anymore of his picks....
It is an election year and trust me, the Pubbies won’t want the mess of an impeachment proceeding occurring during that time!
Trump was literally screamed at, re IMPEACHMENT, re a redo of the Nixon "SATURDAY NIGHT MASSACRE". But McQueeg won't be back voting on ANYTHING, his "lapdog' little Linda Gramnesty is now sort of on trump's side, and IF the damned RINOs go after Trump, for this, all hell WILL break loose by many of Trump's supporters/voters.
The real problem, though, is that Rosenweasel will be the top dog; however, he IS now anyway, so no biggie!
