Actually, I don’t see that much of a problem with this - just use pre-internet encryption before putting anything in the cloud. If it never goes down the wire as anything but gibberish then its not of any use to others.

An announcement to hackers and crypto-kiddies about the DoD sending classified data to the “Secret” cloud. Brilliant!

I’d still prefer to deny an attacker access to the information via isolated systems and networks. Make every step in obtaining cleartext information as difficult as possible.

I actually have more faith in the private sector taking care of data than the government. I dont think amazon has ever been hacked or breeched.

“The cloud” is just someone else’s computer.

I actually have more faith in the private sector taking care of data than the government. I dont think amazon has ever been hacked or breeched. The data isn't moving to Amazon's cloud servers. It's just that government servers will be running Amazon's cloud software. Whatever they were running before was probably inferior.

There’s classified and then there’s classified. Let’s hope this stuff is just classified.
