Charmaine Pruitt wrote the names of 12 churches on a sheet of paper, tore the paper into 12 strips, and dropped them into a Ziploc bag. It was Sunday morning and time to pick which church to attend.
This time of the week two years earlier, there would have been no question. Ms. Pruitt, 46, would have been getting ready for her regular Saturday afternoon worship service, at a former grocery store overhauled into a state-of-the-art, 760-seat sanctuary. In the darkened hall, where it would have been hard to tell she was one of the few black people in the room, she would have listened to the soaring anthems of the praise bands. She would have watched, on three giant screens, a sermon that over the course of a weekend would reach one of the largest congregations in the country.
But Ms. Pruitt has not been to that church since the fall of 2016. That was when she concluded that it was not, ultimately, meant for people like her. She has not been to any church regularly since.
Ms. Pruitt pulled one of the slips out of the Ziploc bag. Mount Olive Fort Worth. O.K. That was where she would go that day.
In the last couple of decades, there had been signs, however modest, that eleven oclock on Sunday morning might cease to be the most segregated hour in America. Racial reconciliation was the talk of conferences and the subject of formal resolutions. Large Christian ministries were dedicated to the aim of integration, and many black Christians decided to join white-majority congregations. Some went as missionaries, called by God to integrate. Others were simply drawn to a different worship style short, conveniently timed services that emphasized a personal connection to God

I was born and raised here in MTNs...strong church background in rural area. I lived a lot of places, and came home, and found myself in a very mixed church in closest city...all the people there...seemed very conservative over years we went there.
I see such a divisive spirit now in churches, politics, and general living in communities. It is sad, and due to left tactics to destroy America. Hopefully, some healing will come in next few years for the nation.
A lot of Satanic temptation is coming at churches from everywhere. Some of it is leftist; some of it is rightist gone over the top. Some of it is nonpolitical things.
Then I won’t believe it. Fickle , no?
Like many, they do not like the Word of God. It is good or evil or right or wrong and no in between. John 14:6 sums the message up very clearly.
I remember a Pastor telling us once, that all the ills/devil’s temptations will come at God’s people first. And also, that if devil can bring down a Christian, it causes others to fail, because they feel if ‘that person’ couldn’t handle temptation, what chance do they have! It becomes a defeat for Christians, and a win for Satan.
No doubt some of these things are more difficult for single Christians, who sometimes feel alone in this battle to stand firm in Christ. I’ve been on both sides, and know the world will pressure those with least foundation in God’s word to cause them to fail. Prayer and reading Bible is best preparation for standing with God, against evil.
Finding like minded people gives the strength needed to refuse what we know is bad for all, and Conservatives finally have a President that applauds Christians instead of condemning them. A breakdown under Obama was destroying so many, who bought the lies. FR is a good place finding like minded people, and share information.
Lame reasons for leaving. Thus is cherry-picked anecdotal fake news designed to fool idiots and further divide and delegitimize Christianity.
‘You cannot serve both.’
why should we have to serve anybody...? are we not a free people...?
The devil doesnt care how he does it...as long as it gets done...
Yet another screed about how, allegedly, Everything Bad Is The Fault Of Whites.
You would have to define diversity in a way that affirmed intrinsic incompatibility between groups for that equation to hold.
So which groups are incompatible together?
What are the reasons for the incompatibility?
If the Slimes is telling the story, there is something left out.
I think she should learn to understand whites and stop wanting other people to be like her. What immature dribble.
True. An inch is as good as a mile which is why people starting to rationalize away various “little” things ends up as just another on ramp to that broad freeway to Hell.
No, Sobieski means, So be it, Truth!
have a lovely day
Dont care. Its their problem, not whites. Its a convenient easy excuse.
Yep. Your post is spot on.
Where is the Slimes report on how many whites do not attend/have left black churches?
Sharpton is a self-created minister within the Baptist tradition, having started preaching at age 9, according to Wikipedia. Jesse Jackson, also per Wikipedia, obtained graduate-level education and is an ordained Baptist minister. Both men have pursued other careers than pastoring congregations, but both are most known for race activism.
But that happens to white people, too. I just left a church where no one was at all concerned with any issue whatsoever outside of their own family members, while all this persecution of Christians is going on in the Middle East and China, and our nation is being rocked by scandals from the left and the right. I actually tried to start an intercessory prayer group and was tartly informed that the women's group didn't want to pray.
