The Jewish festival of Hanukkah celebrates the re-dedication of the Temple following Judah Maccabee’s victory over the Seleucids. The Seleucids were Hellenistic Greeks who controlled remnants of Alexander the Great’s empire, including Judea.
The Greeks know that Jerusalem is a Jewish city. Always has been.
