"NK commits to end its Nuke Program"

Why the momentus elation..? We've been exactly here before.

DECADES later, how much has the situation improved.

It's much, much worse.

The Nokrs got DECADES out of the US sucker negotiators who fell for their kimchee B.S. --it's "just" AMERICA that is in a real pickle, while the Clintongs are hurrying to their tee times.

Why wouldn't the Norks simply try the same ploy again..?

We need to downshift to realistic expectations, here.

Maybe because over 200 engineers and technicians killed, a mountain collapsed and prior to that a streak from space?

Realistically. Remember when that test cave collapsed leaving 200+ of NK top scientist and technicians dead? You really don’t think that was an act of God? The TRUMPet sounded!
Search.
(There was even a thread on FR. That no one seemed to notice)

Reportedly, NK will be bankrupt by October, the food supply is worsening and should NK collapse China does not need or wish for the influx of the NK people fleeing into China. QAnon says to remember the news of months ago of that NK cave-in at the site where 200 nuclear associates were killed and the nuke site was cratered so severely that the impact was felt in China. He claims the USA 🇺🇸 did that, using kinetic weaponry. I can’t fathom that story but can’t entirely discard it, either.

Of course they would. And the useful idiots in the media and the “professional diplomatic corps” are going out of their way to help set up the “peace talks” window dressing to buy time for the Norks, once again.

The difference between 1994 and now is the US won’t meekly look the other way if/when the Norks violate the agreement. Bill Clinton and Madeleine Albright were nothing more than Kim Jong-il’s kept bitches.

You really don’t think the calculus has changed here? That Trump is basically Clinton, that Tillerson is basically Albright, that 2018 is basically 1995? Come on.

The only “diplomatic coup” there will be is when North Korea is verifiably free of nukes, missile delivery systems, plutonium, uranium and their top scientists have been bought off and removed, or outright eliminated. The only “Agreement” that will be valid will be one signed with a regime that is not of the Kim Family in any fashion whatsoever or the Korean Workers Party. In short, this is a lot of celebrating over optics only and is entirely premature and highly inappropriate.

His “talks” will fail.

And will do so with days or weeks of this meeting. It is a forgone conclusion because NO AGREEMENT with the regime will be honored.

Except for the big “Quake” late last year at the Nork nuclear site. Rumours swirl 200 Nork scientist were killed.

If true, the north and south Koreans have hammered out the details these past four months, capped by a signing ceremony at the Olympics (Pence attended the Olympics, with Ivanka (the trusted one) on the last day)

“We need to downshift to realistic expectations, here.”

Your point is well taken; except there’s a new Sheriff in town.
He’s rewriting the book on what and how America wins at home and abroad.

Here’s the explanation. This is over: game, set, match:
https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/971917397031604224.html

China will not let this defeat lay at its feet. They handed it to Rocket Man.
