London (AFP) - Harvey Weinstein's lawyer said Saturday a woman having sex with a Hollywood producer to advance her career is "not rape", in a British newspaper interview on the eve of the Oscars.
Ben Brafman is one of the US' top criminal defence attorneys, hired by the disgraced Hollywood mogul whose career is in tatters following accusations of sexual harassment, assault and rape.
More than 100 women have accused Weinstein of impropriety going back 40 years, but Brafman argued there was no criminal behaviour.

Let’s see rape:
1. Forced/Violent Rape - what we normally consider rape.
2. Statutory Rape - consensual sex with a minor.
3. Coercive Rape - sex with someone whose ability to work is threatened.
Sounds like a case of coercive rape to me.

Two women up for the same role. It will be decided by who will give sexual favors to the director. That isn’t a hostile work environment?!

A woman could have valid reasons for not reporting rape right away, however there are statutes of limitations on criminal charges. But, it would not negate the actual rape.
A woman who would have reported the rape, especially against this powerful bastard would probably have their career ended. The embarrassment and consequential shame stop many women from reporting rape. They know many people will say they deserved it.

I remember about 12 years ago when a NM cop was caught on camera with a woman he pulled over for a traffic infraction. Talk about getting it on! I think I saw that.

I agree- its commerce, and should be regarded as prostitution.
Yes, but in at least one state, prostitution is legal. And in most states, police look the other way.
Could this be legal in some states?

“just old-fashioned prostitution”
That will be a major part of his defense but it appears that some of his actions went beyond old-fashioned prostitution.
The “abuses” made by women accusers need to be scrutinized for signs that they were old-fashioned prostitution.

Translation from lawyer to normal human: "My client is not a rapist, they're all whores!"
IOW, blame the victim, same as it ever was. *sigh*

Depraved practice in a corrupting land of depravity. These maggots have rotted the morals of a nation and they are proud of it.

It is called prostitution...sex for favor. Too many if these “ladies” knew that to offer themselves, they would be favored. Some today sit in wealthy environments crying rape...covering for a guilt trip, ashamed they were once whores.

Is that the movie where the father stops his teenage son from raping teenage Pia with a garden hose, then ends up committing statutory rape with the teen himself? Her first big movie was about incest...

I’d say that virtually all of the women thought that was the price of admission and paid it.

Really - it isnt rape, just old-fashioned prostitution. Some of these brave women coming forward now, after earning their millions, subjected countless later victims to sexual assaults by not coming forward when it mattered. I don't think I could possibly agree with you more .......
They prostituted themselves to advance their careers and make millions and NOW they complain?
Ok, if that's the case they should donate every single dollar they made to rape centers and stop making films and living the high life. Otherwise they're still nothing more than over-priced hookers.
