BREAKING: Florida House passes gun control bill
Orlando Sentinel ^ | 7 March 2018 | Gray Rohrer

TALLAHASSEE — The Florida House on Wednesday gave final approval to a bill that restricts gun sales and sets up a program to arm some teachers and other school employees. The bill is a response to the Feb. 14 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that left 17 students and faculty dead. The final vote was 67-50. It came after an all-day debate on the measure. Democrats favored the gun control provisions in the bill – a ban on bump stocks, an increase in the minimum age to buy a rifle from 18 to 21 and a three-day waiting period for all gun sales – but object to the “guardian” program that would arm some teachers and other school staff.

And yet there are those on this board that support this statist shit.

I've seen it in a bunch of threads, whenever the subject of bump stocks comes up.

"Bump stocks are stupid...go ahead and ban them."

Fudds.....

This should be struck down by the Supreme Court.

Back in the 1700’s, “well regulated” meant “well trained.”

you’re taking the leftist meaning of “regulation” from the founder’s amendment. there’s a reason leftist’s twist the original meanings of words.

the founders meant by “well regulated” that the local or township militia should be well stocked, well organized, well armed and well capable of defending the locality in the expected absence of a standing army. in short, they meant that the local militia should be lethal to any threat to the coming against it.

Actually, it isn’t as bad, as feared.

Florida Gun Bill: What’s in It, and What Isn’t

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/08/us/florida-gun-bill.html

What it doesn’t do
• Ban assault weapons
• Suspend AR-15 sales.
• Ban high-capacity magazines.
• Strengthen background checks.

What the bill does:
• Raise the minimum age.
• Create a waiting period.
• Ban bump stocks.
• Arm school employees.
• Fund school security.
• Expand mental health services and regulations.

When I paid cash for my brand new Ford vehicle at a dealership, it was 3 or 4 days before I could go pick it up. Also took over a month to get my license plate approved, and I got a ticket because I didn’t realize I had to renew my temporary plate on a date before my permanent plate was legal. I guess they have those rules because you could kill someone with a vehicle and they want to be sure you are who you say you are. I did get the ticket waived.

At the time of the Revolution, while some citizens had their own weapons kept at home for hunting and Indian protection, those who lived in towns often kept them in an Armory. When it was time for practice, they were given their long guns and took part in marching and other militia activities. I seem to recall that men who were killed at Lexington or Concord had to get their weapons out of the Armory. In fact the Redcoats were coming to seize the arms and ammunition in the Armories. The Redcoats who were shot from ambush while marching back to Boston in many cases were being shot by people who were armed and lived in the countryside not a town. I wonder if they still were using those in town militia Armories at the time of the War of 1812, or if they were eliminated based on the 2nd Amendment.

In South Carolina the legal age to buy and consume beer used to be 18 but the voting age was 21, now the reverse is true.
What is more dangerous, a can of beer or a vote?

When I was eighteen I could have driven down the road in this state drinking a beer and tipped it to a highway patrolman and it was fine as long as I was not drunk. Now the same action would get anyone of any age locked up. Things have changed a lot in fifty five years.

Rumor floating around the water cooler here, and I own a tool and die business that is currently helping a guy start his gunsmithing business, is that they will just alter the law so that makes the uppers the same category as the lowers. Machining those is actually a hell of a lot harder too, and it could change from there as well.

If the ATF had their way even ramrods would be serial numbered and registered.

The liberals love it. One more step to take them away from all law abiding citizens.

Tell a 20 year old who just got back from a year in Afghanistan that they are too young to own a gun is sickening.

And tell a home-invading robber to please wait 3 days before robbing me so that I can buy my means of self defense.

So what about an 18 year old that rushes out this afternoon and buys a rifle? Will they be grandfathered in or become criminals overnight?

How about private sellers? Are they suppose to start "carding" potential buyers that look like they might be under 21?

What if an 18 year old buys a rifle in Georgia or Alabama from a private seller and brings it into the state?
