Nikolas Cruz indicted on 17 counts of murder, jail records reveal odd behavior in days after Florida massacre [full title]
Florida school shooter Nikolas Cruz, whose jail records show was unapologetic and behaved oddly in the days following the massacre, was formally charged Wednesday with 17 counts each of premeditated murder and attempted murder.
The Broward County grand jury announced on Wednesday the 34-count indictment for Cruz, who allegedly opened fire inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, killing 17 people. The attempted murder charges were for the 17 other people injured in the mass shooting on Valentines Day.
Nikolas Cruz appeared to "break out in laughter" during and after a visit from his attorney, jail records showed. (Reuters) Fox News earlier obtained jail records released by the Broward Sheriffs Office that detailed officers observation of Cruz in solitary confinement. The observations, taken between Feb. 17 and Feb. 24, illustrated the 19-year-old's odd behavior in the days after he allegedly opened fire inside
In an entry on Feb. 17 three days after the Parkland massacre Cruz was noted as relaxed, cooperate, logical and coherent with a normal speech, jail records showed. The reports for the following days showed roughly the same details. At times, Cruz is observed lying on his back staring at the ceiling and avoids eye contact. Cruz appeared restless and in deep thought other times.
NIKOLAS CRUZ INVESTIGATED AFTER SNAPCHAT CUTTING VIDEO, BUT NOT CONSIDERED A THREAT, REPORT SHOWS [snip]
On Feb. 24, the last entry of the records, Cruz requested a Bible. He doesnt sleep at night, according to the records, and instead twists and turns in bunk. He stares at wall in deep thought, eyes closed, appears to be resting [but] not asleep.

His goal was to become the next Texas Tower shooter. When he was unable to shoot out the hurricane code window glass, he quit shooting.
Cruz’s actions due not meet the Florida definition of insanity as a defense.
That is unverified speculation at this point.
Of course the media doesnt want to investigate these drugs and our young people being prescribed them at the drop of a hat, they would rather BLAME THE GUNS!!!!!! The side effects of these drugs on some people IS deadly AND it is the ONE thing all of these shooters have had in common!!!
I wonder how many dead cats, dogs and other tortured animals are buried in his yard.
What are the specifics? I cant possibly see how this could even be possible.
Thats too many possibilities in one sentence.
He must have been evaluated by Dr. Lucy Van Pelt.
Diminished capacity- He was not insane. But due to unfortunate circumstances he did suffer emotional distress. He seems to be permanently emotionally disturbed.
However, the prosecution will argue that he had made these plans and threats prior to his mother’s death and that they were ongoing. They would also argue that he was completely responsible for his actions as Cruz was fully aware of the consequences.
His behavior is “normal” for a prisoner with all considered.
Just as his behavior was equally ‘normal’ given his life and losses. He CHOOSE to act on and plan his assault on the school kids. I give him no room other than choosing to become the ‘criminal minded’ individual he opted for.
Could I have a link please?
I have heard people say that he was on drugs but the only thing I have been able to verify was that he was going to a mental health center which is not the same thing.
...”due to unfortunate circumstances he did suffer emotional distress”....
And he had people step up to the plate to help him in those losses too...yet still he planned, over a long period of time, a school shooting and carried it out.
There are plenty of people who suffer emotional distresses, often in multiples, but don’t lay out plans to kill people even if they might be angry or full of emotions. He had options which he refused.
He will be made out to be the victim; it was the gun’s fault.
He had been on a anti-depressant but stopped taking it a year before the shooting. No drugs found in his system.
“Odd behavior like a handstand?”
Really though, what is normal behavior for a 19-year old in solitary confinement?
Well, at least he requested a Bible so there’s still hope for him, but not in this world.
Ask poster #3. He states the sheriff ‘lost’ Cruz’s clothing after he went to the hospital for a medical check but has not provided a source of that information.
Regardless of what happened to the clothing, the CSPD claimed to have made his arrest based upon his height, weight, hair, and clothing description as seen in the surveillance tape.
The manhunt and that description was broadcast immediately to South Florida which is how an unaffiliated CSPD officer spotted Cruz. Without the clothing description, the officer had no reason to suspect the boy walking was the killer.
My guess is his lawyer is coaching him for an insanity plea, followed by a book deal for the lawyer, followed by a big payday. He needs to hang now.
The guy pled guilty.
Why would there be a trial?
What Cruz was wearing is not in doubt. there are lots of photos
Do you know what kind of antidepressant?
