“Gift” used as a verb.

“Marshall law”.

It has gotten MUCH worse since word processors and “spell check” (LOL).

In the ‘80s, I didn’t see errors in “the media” - papers, mags, anything.

After the boom of PCs and spell check, it seems editors were laid off and no one really checked anything. Since the ‘90s I’ve regularly cringed at the “writing” in those same publications.

Never mind the hastiness exhibited in on-line articles.

English has been in decline since the Normans took over.

In the history of modern English there is no period in which such victory over thought-in-speech has been so widespread. Amen!

I really loath the misuse of the adverb “Anymore”, when what is meant is “These days” or “Up until now”.

Am I the only one who has noticed this trend?

We’re going to visit the Stewart’s

It really is surprising how often an unneeded apostrophe is used for a simple plural word. It's seen on FR pretty often. I think some of it is just reflexive to stick an apostrophe before an "s" since we have to show the possessive so often, but some of it is probably not reflexive.

Has English ever not been “deteriorating”? Or, perhaps more accurately, “evolving”?
