SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korean leader Kim Jong Un met senior South Korean government officials for the first time and said it is his firm will to vigorously advance inter-Korean ties and pursue reunification, the Norths official news agency said on Tuesday.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un meets members of the special delegation of South Korea's President in this photo released by North Korea's Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on March 6, 2018.
A 10-member South Korean delegation led by National Security Office head Chung Eui-yong traveled to the North Korean capital, Pyongyang, on Monday in hopes of encouraging North Korea and the United States to talk to one another.
Washington and Pyongyang have been at loggerheads for months over the Norths nuclear and missile programs, with U.S. President Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un trading insults and threatening war.
Tensions between the two Koreas eased during the recent Winter Olympics in South Korea, where President Moon Jae-In hosted a high-level North Korean delegation. Kim Jong Un invited Moon to North Korea for a summit, which Moon said the two sides should work towards.
Hearing the intention of President Moon Jae In for a summit from the special envoy of the south side, (Kim Jong Un) exchanged views and made a satisfactory agreement, the Norths Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said of the meeting.
The agency did not provide details on what that agreement was but an official from the presidential Blue House in Seoul said it partially addressed the summit offer made by the North.

The delegation will wrap up a two-day trip to Pyongyang later on Tuesday after another meeting with North Korean officials, the spokesman said.

Trump cut the Norths funding, from wherever it was coming. Theyre broke. Theyve got to do something and China wont bail them out. Their nuke scientist were killed in the lab collapse (We did that!) The south is their only recourse.
Call me gullible. Yes he is evil. Yes he is dangerous.
If he is out of money as Q suggest he negotiate terms.
Hey Moon. Dont be a Chamberlain. Peace in our time can only be won through strength.
North Korea is 20 times worse than East Germany was.IMO South Korea would be wise to simply hope that the North loses their military and just withers into nothing.I believe that an effort to reunify would cause unimaginable chaos in the entire Korean peninsula.
And the up side of reunification for the Kims is.....?
They are doing this temporarily to get out from under the sanctions. While they continue to Nuke up.
Or, nobody should be stupid "enuf" to believe it... this is all calculated, to align with nefarious behind-the-scenes actions at the nuke plant

Nothing was agreed
Bingo. Despot dictators like Kimmie boy never give up power, they only seek to expand it, in this case to the South of the 38th parallel.
Bears repeating. It's a distraction.
You haven't been on any of the "Q" threads have you?
Oh please! Anyone who follows this knows the Nork's are out of money and have been for a long time. Kim's finally run out of whatever reserves he's had and there's nothing left to steal from "his people."
Y'all act like Q is some magical know-it all wizard when the truth is he's just some cryptic fool just like the old man behind the yellow curtain in the Wizard of Oz.
Sheesh.
Does Trump get the Nobel Peace Prize? He has done more than The One!
Notice that the main desire, focus and intentions of North Korea are NEVER about making peace with South Korea but always about going directly for “reunification” plans.
The north has zero interest in anything other than forcing a political defeat of South Korean independence outside the orbit of the dictators in North Korea.
The North is not going to offer peace, except as part of reunification.
200 billion dollars and the most glamorous prison of the international elite circuit, not to mention likely 40 more years of life.
Will President Trump get full credit and praise for this? Asking for a friend...
They want “unification” so that they can kick the US out.
Uh, this agreement is nothing.
They agreed Moon will travel to Pyongyang for a “summit” and that the North desires reunification.
Reunification has been the unyielding policy of the North since 1949.
