Theyre young, theyre educated and theyre losing money in record numbers to scam artists.
Young surfers have become the targets of a new generation of scammers.
The Better Business Bureau says millennials now report more money lost to scams than the elderly.
Sometimes when youre expecting something you just open it without realizing, says San Jose State student, Vanessa Nunez, who is part of the group of people most likely to lose money in a scam.
According to cybersecurity expert, Ahmed Banafa, young people or as theyre often called, digital natives, are more susceptible to scams because of the amount of time spent online both scammers and users.
For the younger generation, sharing information is a part of life, making them more trusting of who they interact with online.
Their private information, like their bank, credit cards, background, that is the problem, said Banafa.
Be wary of those who reach out to you online.
Experts advice users to avoid adding contacts on social media unless you know and trust them and dont send anything personal via public Wi-Fi.
Because they’re dumbasses!
I think because they are Godless little feminized heathens. That is my thought.
Because they are stupid. Really, no other possible reason.
Tide pods kill brain cells
The scammers probably say they’re from the government and the zombies have been taught to obey. That or someone needs money for a liver transplant because Trump cancelled their insurance.
Digital natives, indeed. I’m sure many of them would fall for the Pigeon Drop.
They are getting an education. Good education is costly. The system is working.........................
They’ve resided in a virtual world of games and social media practically from the time they were toddlers, they don’t really understand how things work “IRL,” in real life. It’s weird how very worldly they are about sexual matters but they’re babes in the woods about practically anything else.
Don’t put classified government documents on an unsecured private server in a toilet.
Probably the biggest: Go Fund Me!
Actually, they live in a fantasy about sexual matters.
Stupid is as stupid does.
By the time they get to college, they have likely never had to make a serious life decision for themselves, unaided by handlers. They are simply trained dupes, like the party wants them to be, and the scam artists are the predators in their make believe world..
The purpose of education is to develop a good “BS Detector”.

Human intelligence has been falling since the flood.
Humans today probably have about 1/3 of the cognition that Noah had, and falling like a rock.
.
That is such a crazy idea, it could never happen!
When creating a public persona is no more difficult than opening a Facebook page and a Twitter account, the pleasure in seeing yourself Out There outweighs any appreciation of the risk. Working in IT at a university I was astonished at the level of personal exposure that is considered no big deal by persons just about to learn how big a deal it really is. And not just financially - hookup sites are physically dangerous, and Craigslist has long been a lure for everything from robbery to rape. It’s just gotten easier to be a bad guy and a lot harder to be a good guy, and much, much easier to learn the difference the hard way.
Millennials parents have not taught them, that there ‘IS NO PIE IN THE SKY’...it is one thing missing in their education. Life is full of sweepstakes winners, always a party, and ‘you are a winner’ sports, even if you can’t throw a ball!
In my parent’s generation, it was ‘you had better use some elbow grease’, if you plan to make it! Hard work, and honesty were key to survival. Those parents taught us about Great Depression, being resourceful, thrift, and how to reuse things, repurpose, and refinish. Now, there is ‘it must be new, modern, or going in debt doesn’t matter. Quantity seems to be more important than quality, in this last generation.
For that reason, it does not surprise me the Millennials believe the con artists of today! I hang up on salesmen, and I don’t believe in free stuff, it has protected me for a long time. Identity Theft is now #1 crime in USA...just a little info, and they can have a new credit card, new car, and even house bought with victim’s credit.
I’m not cynical, there are genuine winners in contests...and yes, some things worth buying, it just does not happen that often. Beware, even those who claim to help others, in non profits/charities. The Clinton Foundation has shown how that works.
