Amnesty International said an analysis of an official Feb. 21 video released by the Egyptian military, trumpeting the triumphs of its northern Sinai crackdown on militants, showed one of the weapons, which can kill and maim indiscriminately.
Although the video described the weapons as improvised explosive devices planted by the militants, Amnesty said, the markings on one identified it as an American-made Mk-118 anti-tank anti-personnel submunition, "which could only have been dropped by the Egyptian Air Force."
Amnesty said the video showed the weapon to be "untampered with and in good condition despite its age," with an identifying number clearly visible. "This suggests that the submunition has been deployed in recent operations," Amnesty said in a news release.
"This new video confirms our worst fears, that the Egyptian armed forces are using cluster bombs in North Sinai," the group said...
Egypt, like many other Middle East countries, has not signed the treaty banning cluster munitions. While the United States has not signed the treaty either, it pledged in 2008 to restrict their use.

“It is my hope that Egypt starts hunting down the AI a-holes and cutting their throats”
For many like myself who spent a few years doing about the same thing to them, that is the nicest possible way. There are other, more painful ways, to do the same thing. And after what I’ve seen them do to innocent women, and other prisoners, you’re a lot kinder than I was.

I’ll believe that when someone proves to me that Obama didn’t give them to the Muslim terrorists.
And I’ll add. That doesn’t match the mental image I had of the Sinai. For some reason I thought of it as dry, mountainous and rocky, not flat and green.
But again who’s right, the videographers or the commentators? Would it be possible to have filched these munitions into the hands of ISIS or the like?
Because of the famous Mt. Sinai, I guess. We would think of a mountain in the midst of other mountains. Not as a lone peak.
But the bible description seems to suggest a lone peak. It was possible to set a perimeter around this peak, and it had a valley in which the Israelites were able to carry on godless shenanigans while Moses was up there.

Well the pictures of the 10 best mountains in the Sinai do a better job of matching my stereotypes.
That’s a lot of mountainside alright.
And?
Well, if Egypt thinks they need killin'....they probably really need killin'.
The Slimes caption appears to have been written to throw more mud onto the Egyptian gov’t — but those soldiers appear to be in training in the Nile delta somewhere. There’s a canal across the northern edge of Sinai, which was intended to provide drinking water and irrigation using the Nile, but I’m not too sure that would result in that kind of foliage.
Good. They need napalm, too. Why drag this crap out, it’s a fight to the death.
The Egyptian soldiers seem too close together for the open terrain. They look like easy targets.
