Some Democrats Think Party Should Back Off on Gun Control

Congressional Democratic leaders in Washington think they have a winning issue in gun control this time around, seemingly impervious to the lessons they should have learned from literally every single other time we’ve been through this rigmarole. Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are pushing for policy ideas that will make the party stand out as the ones who stood up against the NRA, but there are many Democrats on the analysis side of things who think the leadership should be very careful in how they approach the issue.

Treating the 18 year old like children i.e. they need safe rooms; emotion counselors to hold their hands, they are offended at the drop of a hat etc...and now taking away their right to own a gun is adding fuel to an already whimpy brew of Americans.

If you go to most southern and midwestern states and chat with hunters....you tend to find a mix of Republican and Democratic individuals. If you go to Memphis or St Louis and talk to individuals who have a CCW and carry a pistol in the car....they tend to be a mix of Republican and Democrat. Buying crowd of AR15 rifles? Again, a mix of Republican and Democrat individuals.

There are a couple of things that might make a difference on laws, but you’d have to go and enforce the laws already on the books. Once you establish the fact that X-number of the NRA members are Democrats...you turn this into a different kind of debate.

Trump used the rope-a-dope technique to lure the Democraps in, causing then to overreach in demanding confiscation of certain weapons and other excesses. That won’t fly so less draconian measures are the only bills that will pass congress, which is what Trump wanted all along.

Some Democrats Think Party Should Back Off on Gun Control

Gun control is not the insanity of the issue. The assault on the Constitution generally, and the Second Amendment in particular is the bottomless pit of the young, the ignorant, the insane, the control over others that has created the fake conflict.

The criminal behavior alone, as we have witnessed, by the DOJ, the FBI and the IRS in recent history has demonstrated, that is absolutely forbidden territory, because, for instance, if false accusations alone can reclassify a citizen as second class and unable to claim his Constitutional rights permanently... I would support any attempt to institute "gun control", or abuse of any other item in the bill of Rights, if the abuse of the accusation by anyone is punishable with an automatic death sentence.

I have happy visions of Hillary and Lois Lerner... in fact I have a list of existing candidates.

This explains why Trump drew them out by proposing some further restrictions. Just like with immigration, the Dems can't resist the temptation to get extreme on the issue so Trump lured them out by appearing to meet them halfway. I think he's doing the same with guns.

And if it take Russia off the front page, so much the better.

No, no, NO.....

Keep talking about it.

You have had so much success in the past, you’ve even driven Smith & Wesson to Bankruptcy during a period of record sales, Concealed Carry has been affirmed in many states over the last 9 years, as has Stand Your Ground, ETC etc etc...

And which is not good.

The sad part is that if EXISTING laws had been enforced, the Florida shooting would NOT have happened.

This “gun debate” has been a huge rope-a-dope from the beginning. Those who fer that President Trump has somehow “gone soft” on 2nd Amendment rights are being far too literal in interpreting the President’s words. This is called “reducing to an absurdity”.

Do not underestimate Donald Trump’s prowess in debate. He may speak with almost a sophomoric construction of his sentences, apparently scrambling a lot of thoughts together, but in the end it is succinct and an excellent shorthand for communication with his supporters, who in almost every instance understand him just about perfectly.

Try to keep up, people.

This has been going on for decades.

“If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States, for an outright ban picking up every one of them up...Mr. and Mrs. America turn ‘em all in I would have done it. I could not do it. The votes were not there.”

Or nothing passes. But I agree on the rope-a-dope, I’ve been saying that since the initial freak out by some at some of Trump’s apparently anti-2A statements. This is DACA all over again.
