...Trump told House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La.,...that a comprehensive gun bill would not pass if it included a concealed carry reciprocity proposal desired by Republicans....Trump told Scalise...it should pass as a separate. If youre going to put concealed carry between states into this bill, were talking about a whole new ball game....the White House proposal will include raising the minimum age for buying long guns to 21 from 18 -- a proposal that Trump acknowledged is opposed by the NRA.

I would but I’m already a life member.
Where is the written policy that Trump wants to keep 18 to 21-year-old people in our military forces from purchasing rifles or shotguns? If anything, they should get an exemption.
That's all?
This is very a very bad sign. Looks like he found the one issue that will wedge him apart from his base and it only took a year. The Trumpsters around here are going to lose their minds...total cognitive dissonance. Their hero ain't quite what they imagined him to be, after all.
You raise a good point about the age limit. We have men (and women) fighting and dying for our country who wouldn’t be able to buy guns for themselves?
I’m ambivalent about Trump, have been since the beginning so I don’t have much of a dog in this fight. He’s done great things, so I was starting to become another passenger on the Trump train and then he does stuff like this, or calling for confiscating guns from “crazy people” first THEN due process (as in another thread/news article)?
I’m still willing to give some passes here, because no one is perfect and again, I didn’t expect much from him when I voted for him but he has passed my expectations I must admit. So I’m not opposed to him like I was in the primaries.
But honestly, I hope some of his most ardent fans around her are at least willing to entertain the possibility he’s not the next incarnation. He’s just a man, and a fallable one at that like the rest of us. He’s doing an ok job, but he’s really starting to get into dangerous territory with his base in the last week or so since the FL shooting, IMO. And if he looses the base he’s toast and so is the country.
I’m not saying the base shouldn’t be critical, I’m saying the opposite. He needs to get back on track, and quit even hinting at anything leftist. Or else there’s really no reason to vote for him or the Republican Party, because if he doesn’t start leading from the right again, neither he or the party will be of any help over the Dems. At all.
The MSM and the high school students (God bless them...) act like the folks at the NRA and its members sit around plotting how to implement the next shooting. What abysmal ignorance they display. Just one question for them: what was the last time anyone involved with the NRA participated in a mass shooting? (Crickets...)
Only 4K rounds is your guess?
By my Montana neighborhood standards you guys are pikers.
So you will vote - what? - for the Democrat? Just wondering. Because Trump should be the Republican candidate.
I was issued real assault weapons as a teen in the Army.
The midterms are wipe out with this logic .
He better work on his good bye speech on this road .
The WH has too many Manhattan libs and no hunters .< Its a echo chamber there .
“So you will vote - what? - for the Democrat? Just wondering. Because Trump should be the Republican candidate.”
Oh, for God’s sake. I will NEVER vote for a Rat. But I wouldn’t be too sure if I were you that Trump will be the candidate in 2020.
He will have earned impeachment and removal if that is the case.
I’ll wait till the legislation is signed before passing judgement.
yes , I could be wrong. I know of one group buy . We used a pick up to deliver the ammo after the pick up. It was several cases . We are all friends,
Bull sessions mean nothing. He’ll be throttled back substantially and people will still think he gave a lot, when to my mind bump stocks, a minor age limit revision don’t break the deal with his base. Giving away the rest of the store WILL break the bond, but Republicans can read the polls and won’t let it happen, imho.
He is no friend of the second amendment
My neighbor, strong 2nd Amendment supporter and gun enthusiast, told me today he would be willing to give up high cap mags for CCW reciprocity.
But then he doesn’t have an AR-15 and is a long range bolt action guy. I don’t agree but I see his point.
I am pissed with Trump right now, but I agree with you that the "national reciprocity" thing was not - and is not - a good idea, and that states should have the call. A neighboring state a half an hour's drive from me sucks on carrying weapons, and that is one reason I never go there... another is that that there is nothing in that state's cities worth a damn (Dem/Prog cesspools). If the people here who hate guns move there, and the people there who like guns move here, everybody wins.
Remember when everyone was wetting themselves over Trump ‘betraying us over DACA?’
And then nothing happened other than Democrats looking like whiny children and the Nevertrump brigade looking like fools?
I encourage you to just wait and see what happens.
We’ve had this same song and dance before. And every time after the howling happened for several days, it turned out that we loved the ultimate result.
The President has earned the benefit of the doubt.
