Title is misleading. They weren’t designed for Jets. They were designed to allow for a conversion to jets in case it was allowed in the future. I don’t see what is so terrible about considering future options.
Now - if they want to make the title that the JSDF personnel lied or wasn’t totally forthcoming that is just national politics at work.
With VTOL aircraft, it doesn’t make a bit of difference...................
