Thanks for posting. I’m completely lost though, maybe it’s just me (probably is).

Bottom line: How much do new contributors need to make monthly to be part of the “66” you say are all that’s needed to reach 50%? This is where I’m confused.

Also, I don’t quite understand what “50%” represents, is it 50% of what is needed to reach the “funded by monthlies only” goal? Or some other amount? I’m guessing the former so I’m not quite lost on that point.

As an aside, if I may add: I have set up an automatic payment to be made to JR/FR, via a check sent by my bank. This is because the auto payments I sent up on a CC kept getting kiboshed by the various CC’s I tried to use I have no idea why (if I was of the conspiracy mind, I might suspect something nefarious, but again probably something I did wrong).

Anyway, now it gets sent by a check which, given the amount I do (I’ll say it’s $10 a month not for public recognition but to make the following point) that it may be easier financially for FR to do it via check if one wishes to make such a low payment as mine. This is because CC’s charge fees that make it almost cost prohibitive to charge less than or equal to $10 per transaction (this is why a lot of small businesses say “no CC purchases less than $10 although they aren’t supposed to be allowed to do that).

Anyway my only point with this rambling diatribe is that if one wishes to donate such an amount per month, then look into sending a check automatically instead of a CC payment. It’s easy with most banks they let you set up “automatic bill pay”, and they will send the check for you free of charge every month or week or whatever frequency you desire. I have mine sent to the mailing address on the homepage.

Seems to work I’ve never had any check get lost or anything.

I just post this as a personal opinion I don’t want to discourage people from donating if a CC/debit card payment is more convenient for them. So if the admins/JR want to delete this for fear of insulting someone who may be a potential donor I’ll understand.

We have enough monthlies signed up now to cover 44.202% of the FReep-a-thon goal.

I have set a goal of attaining the next higher 10% level instead of addressing the total we need to raise.

By setting smaller goals we can attain each new goal more easily. It’s not so daunting.

It’s hard to address the way you have come up with to support the forum. There is no bad way to do it, but preferably it seems best to shoot for the goal of having enough people sign with the forum, that it has on it’s books complete coverage for it’s quarterly needs.

The way you have it set up, it’s on your bank’s books, not FR’s books. I am responding in general terms as per the ideal, the goal we need to achieve, so I’m not advocating FReepers do what you are, but please don’t take this as an insult.

Yes your way is creative and works for you. If everyone did it that way though, it would defeat the goal we’re trying to achieve here. MONTHLIES on FR’s books.

As for the donation amounts, they are $5, $10, $20, $34, $68, $100, & $250.

Right under each you will see roughly how many donation we need at each level to meet our next goal plateau.

Of course those amounts and numbers of donors are not static. Any combination that gets us to our next level is good.
