House Intelligence Commmittee Chairman Devin Nunes was ready to go with his own response to the Democrats’ memo that I have embedded in the adjacent post. I have uploaded his point-by-point response to Scribd and embedded it below. It is a useful document. Moreover, by contrast with Adam Schiff et al., Nunes is a credible player. Consistent with my comments, he notes some of the Democrats’ rebuttals of points not made by the Republicans. In any event, here is his response.

“The reason we wanted it out is because it confirms exactly what we’ve said the whole time — that the FBI used dirt paid for by the Hillary campaign and the Democrat national party and didn’t disclose it to the court,” Nunes said. “In fact, they went out of their way not to disclose it to the court.”
“This is why we wanted it out, and it’s amazing that the Democrats would actually take part in trying to cover this up,” Nunes said. “It’s about a coverup.”
“Not only that, but they’re making excuses as if it was okay to use that information to get a warrant on an American citizen,” Nunes said. “It’s flabbergasting.”

Nunes clears up what the Bug-eyed Schiff tried to do by diminishing the Steele piss document’s relationship with the FISA application.

I agree, except for the part about an ‘impartial judge’. I have almost zero trust or confidence in almost everyone in public office, and strongly believe that honest judges who follow the facts in an unbiased manner are in the minority.

Nunes is doing a great job, but he missed an opportunity here. Nunes is just talking about the October 2016 FISC application and why the Steele Dossier was used. But, he can also reference the July 2016 application by the FBI that was rejected. What was the "compelling evidence" that the FBI had in October that they didn't have in July? Oh yeah, they got the Steele document in mid-September.
I thought C. Page was an “asset” of the US IC in years not so far past.
Was C. Page still an asset during and after Trump’s winning campaign?
Nunes is correct. The Hellary/DNC/Steele hit job smear payment triad is completely ignored.

Never heard of Nunes until the Russiagate fantasy started. So happy we have such an intelligent man heading the House Intel Committee.
The Dems and media have long lied to say the Steele dossier was "oppo research," as if it was a well-intentioned, scholarly stab at the truth, but that's just not so. In UK interviews, Steele disclosed that the original construct for it to be a whisper campaign document. In other words, it was salacious fiction by design and nothing like research played any part.
