MSNBC anchors are claiming that teachers armed with handguns would be unable to stop a school shooter because rifles shoot three times faster.
Anchor Lawrence ODonnell said on his show Thursday night that a bullet fired from an AR-15 travels 3x faster than one from a handgun and yet the president and the NRA think giving teachers guns will stop a school shooter.
MSNBC ✔ @MSNBC Lawrence: A bullet fired from an AR-15 travels 3x faster than one from a handgun.
And yet the president and the NRA think giving teachers guns will stop a school shooter
Stephanie Ruhle similarly asked, How does the best marksman in the world with a handgun take down a shooter with an AR-15 (bullets travel 3x faster).
Stephanie Ruhle ✔ @SRuhle Also remember that Reagan was surrounded by the secret service in 1981...yet, he was shot. How will teachers with guns protect students? How does the best marksman in the world with a handgun take down a shooter with an AR-15 (bullets travel 3x faster)
While bullets fired from rifles do travel faster than those fired by handguns, the difference comes down to a matter of milliseconds, which would be negligible in any confrontation with a shooter. In close range situations, the difference in bullet velocity matters even less.
The pair also seemingly failed to consider why handguns are standard issue weapons for police officers.
A number of Twitter users pointed out the stupidity of ODonnell and Ruhles claims.
aThirdOfDuane @aThirdOfDuane Replying to @MSNBC It would seem that drug-testing isnt a thing at MSNBC
I’m stealing that!! VERY good.
Creepy Liar Larry would make a better anchor if her were made of metal, and a bit heavier.
After looking at what CNN viewers are saying on FB, I firmly believe that they know their viewers are dumber than rocks. Their viewers think, er have been told to think, that it would have been impossible for the deputies to stop the shooter because he had a rifle and hand gun bullets would have apparently dissolved mid flight.
Have to agree your post #77 is a definate keeper.
I get the feeling Lawrence O’Donnell got his degree from the Monty Python School of Journalism.
I was going to post about Jerry also. Is there anything MSNBC can get right? They claimed recently to have never even heard of MS-13 and questioned whether they were real.
Exactly. At school hallway distances it comes down to who fires first. And surprise.
Let’s see. Two people face each other at 25 yards, one with an AR-15, the other with a handgun and they both fire at each other at the same time. So this nut thinks the one with the AR-15 would “win” because he could shoot and then move out of the way of the handgun’s bullet before it strikes him. Right. Sigh.
I know a few JSchool grads. Dumbest people I have ever met. No common sense, no analytical abilities, nothing useful to anyone but a news outlet.
While business mined people prefer short concise communications, these idiots will write a 2 page email that I could have conveyed in a paragraph. They will add so much fluff to their emails that you end up reading them two or three times, while taking notes to figure out what they were trying to say.
O’Donnell is an admitted “socialist” but he left out the first part, “mentally ill ahole”.
Never listen to him. He’s “Hate Personified” and belongs in a jail cell. Oh wait, Charlie Manson, his doppelganger just died. Perhaps his old cell is still warm.
CHANTING: “Lock up lunatic Lawrence”.
Mr. “Lawrence of Depravia”.
David and Goliath. Alas, liberal communists do not believe in God.
Abject, complete lunacy. They think the bullets are racing?
So many TV talking heads are so ignorant about guns; what else are they so ignorant about?
Good idea. Or maybe just pass a law that criminals have to use pink bullets.
Just spray the bullets with WD-40 and theyll go faster. Everyone knows that.
'Course, thinking on it, they could be both.
The only way anyone can make this type of statement, or agree to it, is total ignorance of firearm basics, or simply lying for effect, and hoping all who listen are idiots with no knowledge of projectile launching with a tube and propellant.
To all I remembered where I got the tide pod quote. NAGR National Association for Gun Rights. Graphic is on their facebook page. They are based in Colorado.
Pls people spread this around: http://www.truthrevolt.org/videos/bill-whittle-number-one-bullet
Yup...he thinks the students were trying to outrun the bullets! Sheer stupidity.
