Soros’ rent-a-mob doesn’t count?
Me and algebra never, ever mixed.
The only F I ever made in high school. A and B student otherwise without touching a book usually.
Congratulations. Appears that your daughter is level-headed. Lots of kids go to college and fritter away time and their college training does not translate into gainful employment. It's not the degree, but the attitude that counts in obtaining a job and performing well. My daughters earned degrees in university and have done very well. My younger daughter majored in music, and I worried about her getting a well-paying job. However, she now makes the most money. Started at a music-publishing magazine, gravitated to writing and editing at several companies, and is now in software. Some kids are aimless and want the world without working for it. The smart ones are level-headed and aim higher and higher, working themselves up towards more gainful employment. Kids need to be told, it's not where you start, it's about not getting stuck, and about applying yourself to improve your lot.

My daughter got both undergraduate and graduate degrees in liberal arts. She has a strong math and analytical background. Also very creative. Doing very well financially at the Director level in only 8 years. Gets to travel to lots of great locales all over the world - just got back from a conference in Ecuador and took a few days to tour Colombia with her old roommate. I was skeptical in the beginning, but she has really proven herself.
You see lots of high-level execs and CEOs with liberal arts and humanities degrees. It doesn’t stop the ambitious.
They are excellent at impressing McDonald’s hiring department
The graduate with a Science degree asks, “Why does it work?”
The graduate with an Engineering degree asks, “How does it work?
The graduate with an Accounting degree asks, “How much will it cost?”
The graduate with a Liberal Arts degree asks, “Do you want fries with
that?”
Same here
My son also told me college wasnt for him. He got a job, part-time, throwing feed at the local Tractor Supply. Six months later, he was a full-time team lead. Six months after that, he was an assistant manager. Managed several stores until he was poached away to another company, and is a general manager at 25.
Unless one is going for an engineering degree, college is a waste. Liberal Arts no longer has any education component, just indoctrination.
I think some, mostly Snowflakes, underestimate what they can produce of value and what impact it will have on society and the existing economy.
They need to ask themselves: Does the (village. tribe, or whatever) economy need more Philosophers/Thinkers (you know, the ones that live in a theoretical world who tell us how we should live our lives), big Indian Chiefs (the ones that manage the resources of labor and capital in our economy), or little Indians (grunts, the ones that do the heavy lifting)? It just may depend on the laws of supply and demand and what you produce of value that positions you in one of those categories. Get to know them, Knowledge is your friend.
Snowflakes and other victims of poor or limited resources (powerless, no brains, no money, no morals, no experience, no luck, etc.) need to question if they are really God’s (or whatever/whoever they worship) gift to mankind. Having done so, they need evaluate themselves, define a plan, and set a goal(s) and attempt to achieve them. They need to understand that the world is a jungle out there. That they are more likely to fail than succeed. They must plan for failure, but they must learn to endure and overcome the obstacles. Waiting for the government to give it to them is not a good plan the long run. Neither is living off their good looks.
They need to learn, in a Capitalistic society, their occupation and compensation will be determined by their production and its value/worth to the economy. For most of us, that means achieving and maintaining a standard of living which makes us happy. One based on our labors and the control we exert over our lives. A little less talking and a lot more watching and listening will allow them to gather truth (facts) and make better informed decisions for themselves. No two Snowflakes are alike and they aren’t equals. In nature or in life.
All this to say, if the STEM occupations are paying big bucks and offering benefits there must be a demand (shortage) for these jobs in these areas. Likewise, if the guys at Mickey D’s have degrees and are treading water until they find a real job, there might be a reason. Snowflakes, look into it and learn from the successes and mistakes of others.
DISCLAIMER: No Indians were spooked or mentally abused in my attempt to enlighten the audience. Disregard the the terminology, I am not a racist or hater of any kind. Mama told me to be nice to everybody. Your opinions may differ.
Did a women’s studies major write that?
Well I’m gonna ask the question; what happened to the money in the college fund?
Basket weaving is my favorite liberal arts major. :D
Geometry, algebra, and calculus never clicked in my feeble brain until I was 32 years old.
Then within 8 months it became as easy as reading a book.
Go figure, within 3 years I had my bachelors degree in fluid dynamics.
Just to be a dumb old plumber.
lol. good!
The cleaning lady at my company has a degree in political science.
hmm. I wonder if she took this survey.
Well, some of them did study French literature, so I guess that is an application of what they learned.
