Buckling Up!
February 22, 2018
Let us then approach Gods throne of grace with confidence.
Hebrews 4:16
The captain has turned on the seat belt sign, indicating that we are entering an area of turbulence. Please return to your seats immediately and securely fasten your seat belt. Flight attendants give that warning when necessary because in rough air, unbuckled passengers can be injured. Secured in their seats, they can safely ride out the turbulence.
Most of the time, life doesnt warn us of the unsettling experiences coming our way. But our loving Father knows and cares about our struggles, and He invites us to bring our cares, hurts, and fears to Him. The Scriptures tell us, This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most (Hebrews 4:1516 nlt).
In seasons of turbulence, going to our Father in prayer is the best thing we can do. The phrase grace to help us when we need itmeans that in His presence we can be buckled in peace during threatening times, because we bring our concerns to the One who is greater than all! When life feels overwhelming, we can pray. He can help us through the turbulence.
Although we cannot anticipate the trials of life, we can pray to our Father who fully understands what we face.
Throughout the Scriptures we are reminded that God cares about our struggles. When David was pursued by the murderous Saul, he sought refuge in a cave (1 Samuel 22:1; 24:34). It is likely this is where he penned Psalm 142 as his prayer to God. The despondent David lamented that no one is concerned for me and he had no one to turn to for help (v. 4). But David did turn his troubles over to his God: I cry aloud to the Lord . . . . I tell [him] my trouble (vv. 12).
Like David, we may be caved in by our troubles, finding ourselves in desperate need (v. 6). We may lament that no one cares (v. 4). But we too can turn our troubles over to God. We can make God our refuge, echoing in faith and trust, You are my refuge (v. 5), and we can cast our anxiety on him because he cares for [us] (1 Peter 5:7).
How does knowing God cares for you help you overcome worry and helplessness?

Howdy, Kathy.
Did you put a big enough dent with your homework last night to make today go smoothly? Feel a little better after getting a little more sleep than usual?

Good evening, radu....fog early today, but it’s gone now. Snow is supposed to start in the wee hours and continue into Thursday.
Did you get dry and warm? You sure do need dry.
To: PROCON
Howdy, PRO.
Were the streets decent enough to drive on today or still slippery due to the sleet? Hope it wasn’t too wild out there today.

Hello, ML...((HUGS))...what season is it today? Did you get a pub night?

I didn’t go to Pub Nite Tuesday because of this darn cold.
However, it was 70 out today, Penny and I did a lot of walking...although we are still avoiding the woods because of flooding from the BIG THAW. I am assuming the trails would be most unpleasant!

We were supposed to have rain today but the system stalled. We should get some rain soon though ..... for the next few days. No drying out for us for a while.
Almost reached 80 degrees this afternoon but couldn’t quite squeeze out that last degree. Sure felt nice!

Hi radu!
The streets were a bit slick but I made it fine and when I finished around noon most had cleared, but it does remain frigid here.
I just relaxed for the rest of the day, getting ready to hit the sack to rest for my long day tomorrow.
Wassup your way today?

Glad it wasn’t too crazy on the streets. Slick roads are NO fun.
Warm, windy, and dry here since the front stalled and the rain stayed west of us. Made a trip into town for a few errands and that was about it. Now kicked back watching the Amazing Race finale.
