The parents of first lady Melania Trump have become legal permanent residents of the United States and are close to obtaining their citizenship, according to people familiar with their status, but their attorney declined to say how or when the couple gained their green cards.
Immigration experts said Viktor and Amalija Knavs very likely relied on a family reunification process that President Trump has derided as “chain migration” and proposed ending in such cases.
The Knavses, formerly of Slovenia, are living in the country on green cards, according to Michael Wildes, a New York-based immigration attorney who represents the first lady and her family.

Well, if we have to boot them in order to deport 20 million illegal aliens, that’s something I’m willing to do.

Can we have a little common sense here. They are natives of Slovenia and are at risk as the parents of the First Lady. For their safety you get them out of Slovenia. Common sense is a very rare element in the world.
They came here legally and played by the rules.

They could have applied on their own merit. Non story.

Iirc they got their green cards about the time Barron was born. Malania and POTUS often rely on them to stay With Barron as they do not employ a Nanny. BArron learned their language and often acted as a translator when he was very young and they went about NYC ! He is extremely close to his only grandparents.

Admitting parents of a legal immigrant or children of a legal immigrant is one thing, admitting 3rd cousins twice removed is something else.

Besides, the proposed chain migration change would still allow parents. Again, non story.
oh for crying out loud. It’s the President’s mother and father in law and special circumstances apply for security reasons. The left never complained about Obama’s numerous aunts and uncles.
