I remember Isaac Asimov talking about being criticized for NOT putting any ‘sex’ in his sci-fi novels, circa 1970’s.
He said it wasn’t necessary to the stories, and didn’t like to write about it....................

Asimov's stories were excellent. Nothing of value was lost by not including sex.
I had a dear friend, now deceased, whose niece married a Pakistani. He and his family left there over 25 years ago. They are Christians and could see what western liberals cannot see. You cannot exist in these countries unless you express fidelity to Islam and a totalitarian state with Sharia law.
It's easy to miss, because it has nothing to do with the plot.
I'm not sure if I read "Tunnel in the Sky", but I might have. It's been a long time since i've read any Heinlein. Having the Character be black is fine, so long as people aren't trying to make some kind of social statement to "teach" us how racist we are.
I recall an episode of "Deep Space Nine" where Sisko plays the character of a 1950s era science fiction writer, and of course the whole plot turns into a social justice warrior "why are we so racist" screed.
If I want to be preached at, I'll go to church. When I watch or read Science Fiction, I want to engage in escapism.
