Microsoft founder and billionaire Bill Gates says he should pay more in taxes and that the government should require other superwealthy people like him to contribute "significantly higher" amounts.
"I need to pay higher taxes," Gates, who is worth over $90 billion, said in an interview with CNN's Fareed Zakaria on Sunday.
"I've paid more taxes, over $10 billion, than anyone else, but the government should require the people in my position to pay significantly higher taxes," he said.
Gates, the second richest man in the world after Amazon's Jeff Bezos, didn't mince his words when it came to the GOP tax law, which cut taxes for corporations.

This is the old story of, once you make it in to the castle, pull the drawbridge up behind you. Gates wasn’t advocating for higher taxes while he was making his billions. Now that he has earned them and doesn’t need any more, he advocates for higher taxes. Just like that whining hypocrite Buffett. Its virtue signaling at its worst. Hey Bill — Antifa still hates you. Your more extreme Leftwing buddies won’t be happy until they have confiscated all of your wealth and that stadium-sized house that you live in.
He and every whining rich person who claims that they do not pay enough taxes can very easily write a check to the revenue department of whatever country they live in an pay additional taxes.
Governments do not usually discourage people from giving them money.

Write a check to "United States Treasury" and mail it to them. Too easy.
Year ago, Bill Gates was applauded for donating desktop computers to schools around the world. At the time, it seemed like a very philanthropic thing to do, however, the real goal was to effectively lock Apple computers out of the school systems. And later, when the operating systems and, ultimately Windows, needed to be upgraded, the schools paid for that. He’s a capitalist at heart. (he also more or less stole DOS way back when)
If Gates pays me $1 billion, I’ll fill out the form to pay $999 million to the government in voluntary taxes. That way he can feel good about himself, and I can keep $1 million for filling out the form that the liberal pencil neck won’t do himself.
Authoritarianism is not capitalism.
But that would cause you to fire people. We really don’t want you to do that. Neither do their kids. Sob.....
Knock yourself out Billyboy.
I suppose then he’d want to be the one making the rules...
And, he has an excellent excuse; there appears to be no app for that.
Rich liberals want other people to pay more taxes.
But they draw the line at paying what they say they can afford.
I’d believe them if they walked the talk. What rich liberals want is exactly what government can’t produce.
Value. If it produced that, liberals would have an easier time defending higher taxes.
And that is exactly what Gates can’t do.
Attention whore. Write a check you @$$hole! Don't tell us, just do it!
Hey Bill, shut up and write checks.
ML/NJ
Billy boy, just do it!
Nobody is stopping you.
In fact, why haven’t you already done it?
You’ve been richer than rich for decades. This can’t be a new revelation.
Talk is cheap.
Exactly. That’s why I hate liberals. They’re damn HYPOCRITES.
They run their mouths on things they cant cash in. What’s stopping ya Bill? All talk.
Nothing is stopping him from giving the government as much money as he wants.
The government just shouldn’t be extorting it from the citizens.
So, have at it, Bill.
Easy, just fill out the 1040 easy form and take no deductions.

People who are wealthier tended to get dramatically more benefits than the middle class or those who are poor
No they dont. Thats a bold-face lie. The question for Gates is whether he voluntarily pays more taxes than he is required to by the IRS and, if not, why not? After all he believes he should pay more taxes. If he believes thay way then he should set an example.

Now, now. I will say if he’s talking about crony Capitalism, he’s dead on.
Govt using the tax code for the benefit of SOME to the detriment of others (IE: big corps able to shoulder the burden of rule/reg/tax XYZ).
If he’s talking service(s), yeah, he’s full of sh!t
