Kasich to Trump: 'Take some steps' on gun control
CNN ^ | Feb. 18, 2018 | Eli Watkins,

Ohio Republican Gov. John Kasich said the deadly school shooting on Wednesday should be a rallying moment for the nation on guns, but he predicted Congress would not live up to the task, and suggested the President should take the lead.

"Do I think they can do anything on guns? I hope they prove me wrong and they can because I have no confidence in them," Kasich said Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union."

"We need leadership out of the executive," he said. "This is a great opportunity for common sense steps that can be taken. ... Mr. President, I ask you to do this. You don't have to boil the ocean, but take some steps now."

“take some steps”. Now, that’s leading from behind. Maybe he can find his head while he’s leading in there?

Step #1. Full repeal of Joe Bidens “Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990”

then we can start talking

Kasich is a joke here in Ohio. He is DOA at the end of his term. Everyone knows it.

I would be in favor of passing a law that states that all government workers have to follow the existing gun laws. Failure to do so would be subject to a 10 year jail sentence AND a their pension would be revoked.

(The latter part would really get their attention)

This is why you were never seriously considered as the nominee for the Presidency, John.

WHEN just WHEN will someone come up with pics of him naked in chaps at a sex party back in the Condit days. Why did his fun have to take place before ubiquitous cell phones?

This had nothing to do with “gun control” it had to do with failed bureaucracy - just like in another recent shooting. The system and tools were in place to prevent it and they failed to act.

False narratives. No surprise Kasich joins the fray.

first gun control I would do is to make businesses financially liable for any gun free zone set up.
########################################

Spot on. Banning guns in places of public accommodation is the equivalent of chaining a fire exit closed.

In the event someone is harmed by an assault in such a place it should be prima fascia evidence of a tort. The law should mandate the victim recover medical costs, legal costs including lawyers’ fees, pain and suffering, plus punitive damages NO LESS than $5.000.000 per person harmed with no maximum limit.

If an entity decides they can harden the target enough to assure no tort is likely from banning guns it would be their choice to ban guns and take a chance that it is cost effective to go that route. I would bet their insurance company would make that route cost prohibitive, assuming they could find an insurance company that would write a liability policy on such an entity.

Murder and assault are already illegal. A lot of good that does, right?

If you land in prison for the rest of your earthly life plus a day, does it reallyatter how many charges there are against you?

If a death penalty doesn’t deter crime, how will life in prison deter crime?

If the laws we already have aren’t enforced, how will adding more laws help it?

We have some really stupid law makers out there. No
