Sure sounds like a leftist mantra to me.... I mean, no free speech/due process/ right to arms etc.

Do you know how many men, women, boys and girls spout off at the mouth on a regular basis? Do you incarcerate/prohibit everyone who gets mad and states stupid things? The elements of a crime are multiple and must be met legally otherwise we all should likely be prevented from exercising our liberties.

Liberty comes with risk, and responsibility.

If parents are concerned about school safety- then do something- maybe give up the boat and second home and use the savings to homeschool or send your precious ones to a private secured school. Public school, just because we all (property owners anyway) foot the bill does not mean our kids should go there. Mine didn’t.

In the end, only you the parent/adult, are able to protect you own.

If we think the government (state local and or fed) are responsible, then we must be willing to give up more, much more of our liberties IOT to allow them to watch over us- with all the additional risk of out of control “government” that entails.

Government can only make you completely safe if they put you in a cage for your own safety.... Everything else is relative.

Regarding the no purchase lists- indeed- it exists. NICS through the FBI is supposed to ( GIGO, remember) alert the FBI to prohibited persons, but that list has legal criteria- a visit to a mental institution by itself may not be a prohibition. Involuntary commitment for eval and or a court adjudication are prohibiting acts, but having an emotional issue is not a DQ by itself. Certain convictions for misdemeanors (domestic violence) and all felony convictions are DQs. States must report to the Fed for the record to be complete- some states do better than others, but there are also errors that effect non-DQ’d people too.

Illegal weapons purchases? Any attempt by a prohibited person to possess arms or ammunition is a felony already- good thing the fed gov prosecutes everyone who tries ( not, only a tiny portion of such attempts at gunshops are ever prosecuted....). Private sales? Well, that is an issue- if I sell a firearm privately- I indeed ask the purchaser to complete a 4473 ( you can print them off the ATF website)- the same form used at a gunshop-if they refuse-no sale. I record everything- just like at a gunshop. If they balk, that’s fine. Otherwise i have paper to cover my six.... Good thing I seldom sell a firearm, at least to a non-ffl.

Finally, as I sit here writing this, I wonder if you are in a condition or position to protect yourself right now from a lethal attack? Are you armed? You home/office secured? Your car locked? re you situationally aware? If not, you are a seep.

me, I long ago chose to be a sheepdog. Am I armed to the teeth with offensive weaponry? Is my home/office auto a veritable fortress? Am I sweating every time a car drive by or a person enters? Nope, not at all, but I live with a lifelong set of experiences that run in the background and i am safe in mind and body regardless of the storms raging around me.

I am sure you mean well,

Regards.

If you want to know what takes to forfeit a “ liberty” then try boarding an aircraft and threatening to kill everyone onboard.

My suggestion of tightening the screws on punks who make death threats being permitted to exercise their “ rights” to buy an AR is a starting point.

The definition of “ hate speech” has gotten absurd. So I don't know what it will take to tighten up the definitions of “ terroristic threat’” vs smack talk. But when some punk who has access to my kids school makes a threat to shoot kids at the school, those kids deserve the same level of protection as a politician who gets death threats.

Here in DC they have armed guards at McDonald's. Have for years. Banks. Malls. City Hall. All armed guards. You don't hear much about schools in Israel being shot up- they profile and they protect with deadly force.

You think this punk would have picked this school if he knew he had to get past armed security? I don't

Better security. Proactive response to death threats. Removal of your “ gun rights” should be the least of your worries if you brag about shooting kids.
