You've probably had flu many times and never known it. A very interesting study by a London university followed 5,500 people over six flu seasons and found that in all that time, 20 percent of all unvaccinated people caught the flu; of that 20 percent, only 25 percent had symptoms, and only 17 percent of those with symptoms sought treatment ("Comparative community burden and severity of seasonal and pandemic influenza: results of the Flu Watch cohort study," published in The Lancet Respiratory Medicine, June 2014.)
I've often wondered why I've been flu-free for about the past 30 years, and I think it's because I've actually had cases that were asymptomatic, or had mild symptoms that I simply ignored. I'll wager if you did a titer on my blood for antibodies you'd find them for every strain of flu under the sun.
I've never been vaccinated for flu.
I think it is measured on the percentage who received the vaccine and caught the flu anyway.

I’d like to see the data and mathematical methodology they used to come up with that effectiveness estimate.
I suspect that with a little research on my own I could pull a number out of my butt that would be at least as accurate.
Their estimate has to be extrapolated from some sketchy data.
Did anyone see the study done that claims that the Flu Vaccine is actually spreading the Flu? They say that people who get the Vaccine are emitting the Flu Virus from their breath.
From what I can make out, the 25% number is associated w/a particular strain (H3N2) where the efficacy is usually lower, hence they are saying 25% is better. That's it. Don't read anything more into that.

People expect 100% effectiveness for everything. It ain’t ever gonna happen and the flu strains are incredibly variable and prone to drift, shift, and mutations that affect their antigenic character. Based on their test-negative study, the overall adjusted VE against all seasonal flu subtypes was 36% (95% confidence interval [CI], 27% to 44%). Against the closely watched H3N2 strain, VE for all ages was 25% (CI, 13% to 36%), statistically significant but not much different from the statistically not-significant 17% VE against H3N2 reported from Canada 2 weeks ago.
Against the 2009 H1N1 virus, VE was higher at 67% (CI, 54% to 76%), and against influenza B, VE was 42% (CI, 25% to 56%). Nearly all (98%) of the influenza B viruses found in the study group belonged to the Yamagata lineage, which is not included in trivalent (three-strain) vaccines but is in quadrivalent (four-strain) formulations.
Oddly, many people claim they never get sick, then they die, never having been sick a day.

People who get the vaccine are people who go see their doctor... or maybe pharmacist. When they see the professional, the professional presses them to get the vaccine... why? To prevent illness? No! Because they get paid more and especially because it improves their score with HHS/CMS in order to get paid for other services.
So people who see health professionals for other reasons are more likely to get the vaccine. And they see health professionals because they are sickly for non-flu reasons.
People who are healthy do not see the health professional as often and therefore do not get the vaccine. I have not seen these methodologies. But I have seen the methodology of others in the past. It is terribly biased. To come up with percentages, they must have a numerator and a denominator. The selection of those two numbers often makes no mathematical sense.
Flu vacvine development is never a sure thing. I’d get the shot becsuse 25-36% effective is better than 0% effective.
Same here. NEVER had the “flu vaccine” and I have only been sick with flu symptoms 2 times-—enough to put me to bed for a day or two in 60 years. Never missed school for being sick except for measles (which didn’t kill me and probably made me much healthier and resilient in the future, plus affected the great health of my five children ). In my childhood we had VERY few “vaccines” and few “mandated” for school like today. (Nuremberg trials condemned mandating poisonous injections into people and all vaccines have known toxins and risks (that are purposely hidden, too) ). Positive effects are exaggerated and toxic effects are mostly hidden. Big Pharma has been all about lies, never the truth-—just “marketing of perceptions-—control of emotions of the masses. You will not be “free” unless you know the truth. You can never know what is best if you are told lies, so lies and disinformation (socialism) will destroy free will.

I have 0% chance of negative side-effects from a flu shot if I don't get one.
I have never had a flu shot and have had the flu one time in my 50+ years of life. For that particular time we were pushed to wash our hands constantly with soap and water and I did so and caught the flu.
Up to that point and since I either slather my hands in germy squirt or rubbing alcohol and haven’t got sick since.
I didn't do the study.
